Mario 64 and then some
I got Banjo Kazooie a couple of years ago for Christmas and it's still one of my favorite games. It's a lot like Mario 64 except better in many ways. The levels are a lot bigger and more challenging. There are more moves to learn, more enemies, and bigger bosses than any other 3D platformer except for Donkey Kong 64. It's fun finding and collecting the puzzle pieces so you can get to the next level and closer to the chance of putting Gruntilda back on her broom and on her way. As you go on, the levels get more and more difficult. The level with all 4 seasons in it and Gruntilda's board game are especially difficult. You also have to collect 5 of your friends in each level for a puzzle piece. Not to mention collecting 100 musical notes for another one. There is a lot to find in each world, but the game is fun enough and keeps you interested enough to do that without getting frustrated. The snow level was completely awesome and had some of the beat graphics I have...

Best Game Ever!
I have played every single game by Rareware, and every one of them astounds me. But this... this is paradise on wings. Every single new level involves new challenges with ways to figure them out. The music is so addicting that you will often find yourself not wanting to quit a level just so you can hear the refrain one more time. Everything Kazooie, the bird, says is hilarious, and the way the characters tell their names, often referring to themselves in the third person, is funny too. The gameplay is flawless. Every single move will seem completely natural all of the time. It is addictive. If you try to cheat, or find out how to get a certain Jiggy, you have been warned: After a certain amount of cheats, Rare erases your gamepack memory. The graphics are stunning. All you have to do is look at a honeycomb up close, and you will believe that Gamecubes are primitive compared to the Nintendo 64. Rare's attention to details is astounding. Each enemy carries out a choreographed set of...

You can't get off of this Game!! It rules!
The evil witch Gruntilda has stolen Banjo's younger sister, Tooty, in hopes to steal her beauty. Banjo, and Kazooie, the bird that's lodged in his pack, will have to rescue her. You start off in Spiral Mountain, in which the mole, Bottles, will teach you some basic moves. Then you move on to Gruntilda's gigantic lair, in which you will be searching all over for world entrances, into Munbo's Mountain, and Treasure Trove Cove, Clanker's ( a large shark-shaped trash compacter) Cavern, Bubblegloop Swamp, Frezeezy Peak, Gobi's Valley, Mad Monster Mansion, Rusy Bucket Bay, Click-Clock Wood, then Grunty's game show, in which you answer Banjo trivia, and finnally the final battle. Yes, its a lot, and it will take you quite a long time. But it is SOOO fun!In each world, you will find:10 jigsaw pieces, or jiggies, which are either lying around or a reward for doing, or defeating something. You use jiggies to open the door to each world (note: sometimes puzzles are faar away from the...

Banjo-Kazooie mimics the look and feel of Mario 64, a truly innovative and visually stunning game that belongs in any Nintendo 64 collection. But don't brush off this 3-D action-adventure as an uninspired clone. On the contrary, Banjo-Kazooie introduces more than enough originality to warrant a spot next to its famous mentor.

The game introduces two of the most charming virtual heroes in recent years--the goofy, floppy honey bear, Banjo, and his faithful, feathered sidekick Kazooie. In the game's introduction, we discover that the sinister witch Gruntilda not only nabbed Banjo's sister Tooty, but stole her beauty as well. Naturally, it's up to the bear-bird team to retrieve Tooty and rid the world of one darned inconsiderate witch.

In this beautifully-rendered and massive game world, players run, jump, swim, climb, and flip over obstacles, defeat all sorts of "baddies," and find and collect numerous items and clues that help the quest to progress. Playing as both Banjo and Kazooie, players hone their characters' actions, learning nearly two dozen special moves that help players expertly defeat foes and successfully tread through the nine worlds.

Banjo-Kazooie is one of those games that can demand hours upon hours of perseverance, patience, and learning of skills to complete. But don't let that discourage you. This epic game is so much fun that reaching the end will be an afterthought. --Eric Twelker

Pros:

  • Nicely-paced game world filled with well-designed challenges
  • Excellent character control with numerous special moves
  • Gorgeous graphics
Cons:
  • Numerous--often complex--special moves may discourage some casual gamers

A fun, family friendly game for the holidays!
Well first off, I'd like to say that there has been a concern with the text in this game. I think the points made by others are valid and the issue of small, fast-scrolling text IS being addressed by RARE and will soon be fixed with a patch. The text issue ONLY affects those with an SDTV, HOWEVER if you have an HDTV the text is legible. It only scrolls fast for cutscenes, but in-game, when talking to characters, you have the option to choose when the next screen comes up. The only reason I dedicated this large section just to the text, was because the other people base their reviews on it when the rest of the game is practically flawless. The game doesn't deserve 1 star because of this and it should be higher cause I don't want a review the negate the average score when other parts are superior. Now onto the actual review! The game plays by you building your own vehicles with the different parts you collect. At first the vehicle-building system seems complex and difficult...

Not What You Might Think
The game is somewhat fun, but.... it's not what you might expect from a BK game. The game is basically one challenge after another to win Jiggys and trophies. Unfortunately, but you might like this, most of the challenges are timed races. I was looking forward to kicking back, exploring worlds and finding Jiggys, Notes and Jingos, not having to beat certain times to win Jiggys. The leisure is gone...Even this might not be so bad, except building and choosing the correct vehicles is confusing and the interface is very confusing with different ways to select and build vehicles. The collection of Acts is disjointed and the constant back and forth is frustrating. Expect to see the puzzle loading screen A LOT as you move back and forth between interfaces. And one last thing, which others have mentioned, is the text. This game has TONS of reading and the script is very small and sometimes, scrolls automatically and quickly before you can read what was...

Build a vehicle to pilot over land, water and air at Mumbo's Motors. View larger.

The Lord of Games (LOG) has built many worlds to determine the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. View larger.
In Nuts & Bolts, a showdown has been set. The Lord of the Games (LOG) has arranged a duel between Banjo and the evil witch Gruntilda, aka Grunty, to decide the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. LOG, being the creator of all video games, has built a multitude of worlds to host the challenges. Banjo must complete all the worlds to win, while Grunty tirelessly tries to stop his efforts using every method she can muster.

Build it at Mumbo's Motors
The game is loaded with vehicle options to help Banjo pilot over land, water, and air. Parts for vehicles are widely diverse, ranging from your standard engines and wheels to egg guns, floaters, and other gadgets. The Mumbo's Motors workshop makes it easy to create new vehicles. You'll collect different parts by solving puzzles and exploring worlds. Vehicle parts include a wide variety of body panels, engines, wheels, wings, propellers, fuel, and weapons, plus lots of bizarre items like Mumbo Bombos, floaters, and the versatile sticky ball that allows you to create almost anything from a simple object. Once you've finished your ride, customize your creation with a paint job and a suitable name before Banjo takes the wheel and pilots it into action.

Customize, Customize, Customize--or Just Get Down to Business
LOG's worlds are littered with hidden secrets, reward puzzles, and over 100 contraption parts that deliver an almost limitless combination of vehicle possibilities. As you work through the worlds, you'll discover more and more ways to customize and improve your contraptions, creating a surprising level of user-generated content. But even if you don't fancy yourself the greatest inventor or a highly creative craftsman, you can still have countless hours of fun with Banjo-Kazooie's pre-built vehicles. With these at your fingertips you're ready to jump in and get started, and there are plenty more contraptions available for purchase throughout the adventure using in-game currency and musical notes.

Characters, Old and New
Banjo and his best friend, Kazooie, are ready to battle for their homeland and prevent Grunty from developing it into tower blocks and malls. Other familiar faces return as well, such as Bottles, Captain Blubber, and the Jinjos, along with a vibrant cast and crew of new friends and foes. Keep your eyes peeled for Grunty's minions--look out for Trophy Thomas, Piddles, and Grunty's menacing Gruntbots: they'll do anything to prevent Banjo's success.

Nuts & Bolts offers an engaging storyline, entertaining characters, and fun gameplay options. This game offers complete single-player and multiplayer experiences--tackle LOG's worlds on your own, or play with your friends in competitive and cooperative challenges. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for Xbox 360 is a enjoyable, challenging game that appeals to people of all ages and types.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts delivers loads of customization options, interesting characters (old and new), and plenty of fun, challenging gameplay.

My son got a lot of mileage out of this game
My eight-year old son loves this game! Out of all the games I have bought him, he continually goes back to this one. I have bought him a lot of games inlcuding Lego Harry Potter, Legend of the Guardians, Sonic Unleashed, and Viva Pinata and not to mention all of the Nintendo DS games I got for him. Banjo Kazooie is the best $20 I've spent on him!

One Of The Greatest Games Ever...
It's gonna be a great Christmas this year! Banjo-Tooie is without doubt one of the greatest games I've ever played! It's one of those all-too-rare (no pun intended) games that constantly puts a smile on your face and a glow in your heart, and reminds you just how fun games can be. The graphics are phenomenal - each landscape is so epic and beautiful to look at that you could live there! The size of the levels is surely on the very limit of the machine's capability and the levels themselves are supremely designed. The gameplay is a perfectly balanced blend of action and puzzles which are interspersed by some great little fun and wacky mini-games (including some hilarious 1st-person shooting sections like Goldeneye) and awesome bosses (just wait until you see the giant, snake-like welding torch Weldar - surely a candidate for most brilliantly original boss of all time). There is also a varied set of multiplayer games for up to 4 players which stand up as good games in their own right...

A must-have game for any N64 owner
I was a huge Banjo Kazooie fan - the dialogue was fun, the action was great, and the bizarre creatures you turned into and puzzles to solve were amazing. I wondered if the Tooie sequel could live up to the original - and it does! The graphics are great. The characters each have their own personalities, and now each can become quite a range of other shapes and sizes in order to get through the game. It's not just a find-100-of-this game either - there are combinations of things to do, and puzzles to solve, creatures to rescue and mazes to exploreThe mini-games are amazingly fun by themselves. My boyfriend got hooked on the kickball game and kept going back for more! There are more egg varieties, more jinjos of various colors, more of everything. Each world is nicely put together with its own theme, with all sorts of really funny things going on in it. These developers didn't just work on honing the gameplay so it was perfect - they made every aspect, from the way the graphics...

Kart racing at it's finest.
Story / Level Design:The racers and stages are all from the Sega universe, not just Sonic's world. It's not an evenly weighted ratio with more Sonic levels available than others. It makes sense since the typical gamer is only really familiar with the blue needle mouse. The tracks are brilliant. The stage designs feel like F-Zero / Wipeout meshed with a high definition coloring book wrapped in familiar surroundings.Controls:The 360's controls are sharp and responsive. The button layout isn't in any way cumbersome or complicated to master.RT = gasLT = driftA = weapon dropDrift through corners to build boost. When airborne, LT again to do tricks.Gameplay:The game engine isn't something completely revolutionary ... it's an updated Mario Kart. Much like the plumber's clones (Crash Team Racing, Diddy Kong Racing, NASCAR Kart Racing, etc), there are power-ups (missiles, stationary bombs, screen...

Love Mario Kart Wii...but Sonic Is Even Better! Here's Why:
Since we got the Wii a year ago, we had Mario Kart from day one and love it! It was probably the premier karting game, so it is nearly impossible to describe this game without comparing the two. I also have not tried the Wii version of the game, but considered buying it.We got an Xbox for Christmas and the trailer for Sonic & SEGA Racing looked pretty fun, but I was torn over getting it for the Wii or Xbox, so I downloaded the demo on Xbox Live and tried it out. My kids loved it, so I decided to get the game for Xbox so that we can race in Hi-Def and play against friends over Xbox Live as well.First of all, the real game is WAY better than the demo! SEGA could have sold more with a better demo, in my opinion. Why is it more fun than Mario Kart Wii? Well, I think the racing action is a little easier on the Xbox controller than the Wii-mote. Additionally, each character has their own unique abilities and "All Star" moves, which are hilarious for some of...

Finally! A Sonic game that's actually good and it's racing to boot!
If you keep up on video games at all, the words: "Sonic all star racing" immediately strike dread, fear, sadness, frustration, or disappointment in your heart. How many Sonic games have promised to bring the blu blur back to his former glory but failed utterly? Racing games in particularly have been hard for Sonic to nail (ironic, isn't it?) with the last two "Sonic Riders" being tolerable but still providing enough frustration and disappointment to be worthwhile entries in the Sonic Hall of Infamy. Banjo Kazooie Pc

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft will eventually see all the updates that are now in the PC version of Minecraft including mods and texture packs. Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was ported by master porting studio 4J Studios whose previous work includes the excellent XBLA ports of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. The $20 Xbox Live Arcade game sought to emulate the original PC hit and apparently it has done so at least in terms of sales. It has minor differences from the PC version that are inherent to the limited capability of consoles such as smaller world maps and a simplified crafting menu. Regardless, it sounds like Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is an excellent addition to the Minecraft legacy.

Xbox gamers will soon have a chance to see what all the fuss is about as PC phenomenon Minecraft is coming to Xbox Live Arcade. The port is being developed by creator Mojang alongside 4JStudios, whose previous Xbox Live Arcade releases include Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark.
