10 stars would do this machine better justice...
After my flimsy Juiceman Junior finally went to small appliance heaven, I decided to look around for a machine that I can actually live with = use it without hating to clean the thing afterwards. I'd never heard of Breville before, but the solid 5-star rating caught my eye. The idea of a wide enough feeder tube so I don't have to spend so much prep time was enticing, but what made me decide to buy the machine (cheaper some other place, look around) were the high marks on cleanup and performance. - Usually I don't write a review right away, but this juicer simply blew me away. What a beautiful piece of well thought-through craftmanship! Being German, I certainly prefer lasting performance over flimsy throw-away items, and this machine looks and feels like it will stand the test of time. I don't find the motor any louder than my previous machine, so that's not a problem. One reviewer wrote to put a damp paper towel around the pulp catcher rim to prevent tiny bits of pulp from...

Wonderful product
I got this machine as a birthday present and am over the moon about it. I've made some wonderful juices...papaya/apple, apple/carrot/ginger, and citrus mix. Anything I put in is thoroughly juiced...very little moisture is left in the pulp container. It is loud but this doesn't bother me at all. I do find that I have to cut the fruit into smaller wedges...whole apples, in spite of what's advertised on the box, do NOT fit down the spout. Still, a very minor point. I highly recommend this machine...for the price, you can't beat it. And clean-up takes all of 5 minutes if you're thorough. Even comes with its own scrub brush.

After intensive research, this was the one
I research almost everything I buy: my blender, coffeemaker, palm pilot, my car, electric razor, laundry detergent, etc.After about 5 hours of research, I decided on the Breville JE900. My mother has a juicer from the TV guy (Jack LaL...) which I thought was decent. But I wanted to try something different, and the Breville had the highest marks I could find for the price.Assembly was a snap after unpacking the box. While the juicer is mostly plastic, its high grade plastic and looks sharp on the counter.The biggest differences between the Breville and the Jack LaL... juicer are: 1) size, 2) cleanup, and 3) noise.The Breville is smaller (but juices just as much), MUCH easier to clean (the Breville mesh screen quickly snaps in and out, while the other one requires a special tool to unscrew the screen), and is louder than the Jack LaL juicer. All of the reviews I read said "the Breville is TOO LOUD." It may be a bit noisy, but it can crunch through hard...

The "Lexus" of juicers
We owned a refurbished Waring JEX328 juicer for about two years and my wife used it to make juice for our children and me almost every day. It held up fairly well and we paid almost nothing for it at the time (around 30 bucks, I think), but it finally cratered a couple of weeks ago. We debated for a while whether or not to replace it with this Breville model or the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro. We finally decided on this one because it had so many five star ratings and because it is an appliance we use so often, thus we thought it made sense to get the best one we could find, even with its steeper price. While I can't compare it to the Hamilton Beach model, I can compare it to the Waring model, and it beats the Waring model hands down.As soon as you unpack the Breville you know you have a top quality piece of equipment. Why I prefer this juicer to Green Star, Champion, and others:
The Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor is the third juicer I've owned, and is definitely my favorite. My cheap and easy-to-use Juiceman's motor burnt out after a year, at which point it would have been more expensive to repair than replace. My Champion still works after 15 years and is not difficult to clean, but is messy to use, leaving drips all over the countertop or whatever I line it with. I've also tried the Green Star and Green Power Juicers, which make perfect juice with dry pulp, but take a long time to clean and assemble. The Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900 is the second-down from the top of the line of the four Breville juicers (only the Elite is better), but after a month of use of about every-other-day use, I find no need to upgrade.Here's why I like this juicer so much for my typical juice of carrot, kale, celery and apple and/or pear:*Easy to set-up: It takes only seconds to set up this juicer. A great appliance for what it is... a centrifugal juicer!!!
First of all, a distinction needs to be made on exactly what type of juicer the Breville is, only then will these reviews be helpful. The Breville belongs to a class of juicers called centrifugal juicers. These work by forcing the juicing item onto centrally located spinning blades that essentially finely grates it and then the contents are thrown outward onto a spinning screen (spinning at a thousand or more revolutions per minute)... this forces the juice through the screen while the pulp gets held back and eventually slides up the angled screen and gets thrown over the top and into a holding bin... and thus the juice is separated from the pulp. The other types of juicers are the masticating juicer, where the item is literally crushed in an auger (a big screw) and compressed so that the juice flows through a small screen in the bottom while the pulp is pushed forward where it gets ejected at the far end... and the other type is the citrus juicer which is basically an electrically...

Nice Juicer
I used an Omega 1000 for 7 years. The Omega would often get out of balance (you have to stop juicing, disassemble, clean and start over), has a small feed chute and at times would "spray" some juice from the spout.The Breville 800 has the following great features:Big feed chute. You can process 3 regular size carrots at once or three medium apples or oranges (stacked in the feed chute). No cutting needed. The chute is 3" in Dia and 7" tall.Disassembles quickly. No screws. Fits easily in the dishwasher.The pitcher included has a spout opening, so there's no overspray. Additionally, the lid is made to separate the foam from the juice.Never gets out of balance because it's and ejection style juicer. It still does a great job of extracting the majority of juice with the high rpm motor.Last, it looks very nice on the counter with the stainless steel construction.

I LOVE this juicer!! (so far...) Beats my Green Power juicer.
We just bought this juicer on Amazon, using the $25 discount and the free shipping. Made it the best price on the internet when we bought it first of December 2005. Before commenting on the juicer, let me tell you what we used before this juicer arrived.We have a top of the line Green Power juicer. If you know juicers, you know this is one of the best. We've been juicing with it on a daily basis for 10 years and it is still going strong. It has a high juice yield (dry pulp), can juice grasses and greens efficiently (wheatgrass, parsley, spinach etc.), and low temperatures and rpm minimize oxidation so juice lasts a long time. Other advantages are claimed, but these are the biggest for us.A well-known downside to twin-screw type juicers like the Green Power is that it takes quite a bit of force to push items like carrots into the juicer, because there is no cutting blade action, just the gripping/squeezing action of the twin screws. We want to juice quickly and get on with our day.I'm not a vegan, i'm not a juicing purist, or is interested in the centrifugal vs masticating debate. I just want to increase my health by drinking one big glass of fresh juice and get on with my life.I've owned other juicers, but this one is a monster. At high speed, it's loud no doubt, but it's power is without equal. I make a monster glass of juice (close to a quart) with 7 fruits and vegetables. It rips through all of them as if it were a joke. All the vegetables take about a minute, then i'm done.Now cleaning does take much longer than juicing, but the machine is made so well, that it's incredibly easy. It also works out perfect for me, because while i'm slowly consuming my juice, I wash out the parts by hand. You may think this machine is a lot of money, but if you want to have a juicer with real speed and a strong motor, this is the way to go. Not only that, but it's very attractive to look at...
