Great product
I really like this unit. It's a little on the small size for someone with big hands. Easy to use. The camera is really 5mp, interpolated to 12mp. The zoom only works for stills, not video. The IR source is a little weak for outdoors use, but is as advertised. That being said, the unit is easy to use and produces good images. It comes with all cables needed. I was surprised with the image quaility when played back on a large LCD TV. I would recomend this, The extra SD slot and dual power option are cool, as is the IR mode. If you have teenagers in the house you might need two of them, Really big hit with them. Is it my turn yet?

Brown is Purple HDMI controls and more
The main issue is that under any light except florescent light, the image on video and still camera turns everything purple or blue. Simple example: In my kitchen with florescent light, Blacks come out black and browns come out brown. In the living room under normal incandescent light bulbs my Dark Brown couch is bright purple. I took some video of my friends band and they looked like blue Smurfs on stage. I reset the camera to defaults and still same issue. I really think mine came with a defective ambient light sensor or something. Also, not all the commands or buttons work plugged into my TV with the HDMI cable. I have to start the video I want from the LCD then plug it into the TV and if I even try and fast forward or pause with the buttons it does all kinds of crazy things. There was no instructions on how to playback even when plugged into HDMI. The good side is that the video is not bad in 720p. You cannot use the zoom if in 1080p, I'm guessing it's all digital zoom...

Great for the price
Ok so it took a day longer to get, this little camera is quite impressive. It's automatic night vision is great and it seems to be full spectrum in daylight based on the pink tint to the trees. For the price, I was impressed. All the negative reviews I would attribute to lack of knowledge of camera functions. Also zooming in does get pixelated, but if your using this for ghost hunting, who zooms in anyway? I think it's better than I ever could have expected.

pretty good for the price
This isn't a bad camera. I read the other reviews for this, but i have to disagree. I think those people made a very uninformed decision. Personally, I am the head of the video tech department at the local high school, and I believe this camera is everything it is advertised to be. You must understand that there is a big difference between a full-size camcorder and a pocket recording device, like this one. Typical battery life for a device like this is two hours; my Vivitar makes it three to four. The resolution is as it is advertised, nothing spectacular. The great feature on this is the infrared optical, which appears in black and white. It doesn't come in color; it wasn't meant to. It was simply meant to gather an image in the dark and it doest that just fine. The microphone is admittably weak though, and the students have needed a USB extension to connect to the computer because of the awkward positioning of the connector. easy to use and understand.....
bought this camera for the "time lapse" option... wanted to get on-line but wanted it now/so I paid twenty two buck more plus tax at a best store. the camera performs wonderful! there are no "laser" buttons/everything works from the zoom and menu button-very easy to use and understand. the night capibilities are great. filmed my dog across the yard at 11:30pm with only the neighbors porch light on and no street lights. the video came out perfect! I was amazed!I have a 2 year old JVC w/30g memory..this gz-ms110 is 1/3 the size and weighs ounce's!the zoom is awesome. I was able to zoom the moon and see craters/but a tripod would have made a better video for steady-ness....I would have given this 5 stars/but the thing that stopped that was...due to it being so small/which I love/but due to the size and my large hands it is slightly difficult to press the record button when the camera is in my hand with the strap on my hand comfortably, the strap could be larger and perhaps this would...

Not exactly a "new and improved" version of the MS120
I've just received my JVC MS110. I was looking at the MS120 about 6 weeks ago, but saw this newer version was coming out, so I pre-ordered it for $229. At the time the MS120 was selling on Amazon for $209. Before I received the MS110 (but after it shipped) Amazon was selling the MS110 for $207, and the MS120 for $260!I did some research on them before I bought, but unfortunately missed the following differences:1. The MS110 doesn't take still pictures.2. It doesn't have the MS120's filter threads, needed to add a wide-angle lens.3. Unlike the MS120, it doesn't close the lens protector when you close the LCD to shut off the camera. You have to locate and move a lever on the side. A small point, yes, but its seems like they had to go out the their way to remove this feature.Pros-It has a great 45x(or more)zoom lens.-It comes with time-lapse recording and a motion detection-record feature.-Low-light capability is good. What ever you can see (20/20 vision) in the dark is how the camera will see it. The zoom is about as much as anyone will need. This camera can zoom up close on objects that I can't even see. It showed up much faster than I had anticipated, 2 days before the scheduled delivery date which was cool. I personally dislike the headgear that came with the night vision, the chin plate is square, and it is all around uncomfortable. However, if you're really good at improvising toys, you might want to try what I did. I bought a MICH style combat helmet, detatched the arm-piece from the night vision headgear, and hooked it up to the combat helmet. Now I have what looks like a Rangers helmet with night vision, which would've cost around $3500 to buy essentially the same product. The quality of the monocle is amazing, but an unexpected problem was determining downhills, only looking through one eye takes that ability away.

does it's job
I am a truck driver and recently a man accused me of running over his dog,I did not however it did convince me of trying a dash cam.I bought this one because of price to try as a trial.To my surprise it does a lot more than I imagined.I stuck it on my windshield up in the high middle and plugged it in to the cig lighter.2 weeks went by and a window tinting car cut me off in traffic.If you go to my youtube you can see how awesome this cam is....PLUS the vid on youtube is my phone recording off my laptop...I'm not smart enough and have not the software to edit videos.The programming is a little funky on the cam,like setting the time and date,but if you play with it for awhile you will figure it out.The micro speaker play back is scratchy until you play back on your computer and as you can hear it is very adequate.I put a 2 g mem. card in and carry a spare now in case I need to save something...it's worth it! This cam far and above does what I need.I already have saved vids of 2 more...

Just purchased
I just received this camera yesterday. I also bought a 16 gb memory card for it. Installed the battery and after a minute figured out how to configure it using the menu. For the price it is fairly well constructed. The mount is excellent. It has a 270 degree lense which captures a wide field of view. I placed it on my windshield easily enough. Using the power cord to power the device makes it turn on and record when I start the car. There is very little vibration coming through the mount to distort the video. I use the 640x480 size because it will be the most stable and smallest file size. Basically it does exactly what I expected it to do and the price cannot be beat. I previously had purchased a mount so I could use my Flip video recorder but that was a hassle. This camera is installed and runs automatically so I don't have to fool with it anymore. It is cheap insurance to document what happens in front of your car. I will be buying another one for my wifes car. I recommend this...

If you're looking for an inexpensive camera that works good, try this out. I haven't had one problem with this working incorrectly.Issues I have with it (but for the price, is just fine...):Picture isn't the greatest. It isn't real clear. If you're using this to read road signs or license plates, forget it. If you're using it to show that there are in fact other cars or large objects, it is just fine.I've noticed that switching into the 720p mode, it does jump a little bit. It isn't bad though, just slightly noticeable.The infrared for nighttime use isn't the greatest either. It shows picture great to the front of the hood and then it loses all IR because of the headlights.It does feel a little cheap, but again, for the price, not bad.I have used this for a couple of weeks now.
