THIS IS A $40.00 TRIPOD...
After reading some of the negative reviews on this tripod I had to point out the obvious. It is a $40.00 Canon Deluxe not a $600.00 Gitzo Mountaineer. For $40.00 this tripod actually exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, build, and performance. Remember now...I'm speaking as a consumer that spent $40.00.Another issue that seems to have other reviewers troubled is the amount of plastic that is on this unit. This is because Canon has designed it to be light-weight (2.65 lbs). Again, for $40.00 what can you expect...perfectly balanced feather-weight alloy? Of course a tripod in this class is going to wear some plastic.The tripod itself can extend up to 59 1/3 inches (1,507mm), has a water level, quick shoe release, and elevator type extension. Great bag that holds everything!
I had so much stuff in my huge LowePro Nova 5AW shoulder bag that it hurt my my shoulder and back to carry it around. Saw the Canon 200EG Backpack and based on reviews ordered one. I am impressed. It was about 1/2 the price of my LowePro bag. Its very well designed with lots of compartments, padding, external straps and quality materials. It holds everything that was in my other bag and I still have more room. I've got a Canon 20D with BGE2 battery grip, 3 zoom lenses (one a telephoto), a Canon 580EX flash, a Slik mini tripod, lens hoods for all the lenses, and a large assortment of filters for all the lenses all inside the main compartment. External compartments hold everything else like spare battery packs, chargers, cables, etc. Its got straps on the bottom to carry my tripod which my old bag didn't have. Its got other straps for carrying all kinds of stuff. And I carry bag this much comfortably. The one thing that the LowePro bag had was an all weather cover that could...

good bag can be made better for a few bucks...
This is a good bag for the money. it's not a great bag, but very useable. with a few bucks and a trip to REI, it can be made much better however.first, get yourself a 40 inch long, 1 inch wide webbing lashing strap, with a quick release buckle on the end. should be about 2 bucks. use that to wrap the bag through the lashing anchors on the sides of the bag. this acts as a very good compression strap, and gives you an added measure of security. close the bag with the zippers below the strap, and it's harder for would be thieves to open your bag while you are carrying it. it also allows you to open the top half of the bag, and grab your camera without letting the other contents of the bag fall out. since the top of the backpack is cut inwards, the camera is fairly easy to grab for those quick shots. not as fast as a messenger bag, but better than having to put your bag on the ground to get your camera out.next, get a pack of 1 inch tri glide buckles. use...

Impressive, but see update
Update 14 Months Later: I'm still happy with mine, which I use with a still camera, but is probably fine for typical non-pro video use. The tripod shown (12-18-11) is probably the same but, for the record, mine has the Polaroid brand on it and is all black. Original review: For the money, I wasn't expecting too much. Bought it because of the reviews. I can confirm it is sturdy -- I use a 2 sec. shutter delay (no cable release) to eliminate any slight wobble from pressing the shutter button. ...Might be a tad heavy for many people to carry around all day -- but that's what makes it so gosh darn sturdy. And, if you usually go to one or just a few locations, this is a great tripod to use. BTW. 72" is above my head, but I just know that will come in handy on occasion. Even as a pro, in many situations, you'd probably be just fine with this. BTW2 -- It's made by Polaroid. And, it comes with a handy dandy handle and case. 'nuff said? Great Product for an Unbeatable Price!
I agree with so many other reviewers that this is an amazing price for such a strong, sturdy tripod. It's VERY easy to set up and I've NEVER set up a tripod before. It came completely assembled out of the box. I read one review that said you couldn't pan the camera. That is INcorrect. It does pan up and down (turn the handle to raise/lower it smoothly) and it also pans left to right using the handle- you just have to loosen the know that holds it stationary. If you loosen it slightly, it still stays where you place it but allows you to move it slowly left-right. It's very easy to adjust the height. You adjust the legs to a height you like and can adjust them using the level on the tripod. THEN you can adjust it up and down an additional ~12-18" with the twist of the handle. Even attaching the camera/camcorder is simple. The mounting plate is removable, line up the camera and then turn the little screw head underneath to mount it securely to the plate. Good bag
After reading some reviews and comparing prices, I decided to get this bag. It is quite large and perhaps slightly larger than what i had imagined it to be from the pictures. It has a lot of space for a camera body and 4 other lenses (incl the longish canon 70-200mm f/4) with some room left for other accessories. The strap is padded for comfort in the area where it rests on the shoulder. It is generally well made and looks very good. Although the canon logo kind of makes it obvious what's in the bag.But after a weekend of day trips with this bag, I found that with all the stuff in the bag, it is quite heavy. I am leaning towards getting a backpack that may be more appropriate and convenient for walking/hiking comfort.

Excellent product for the price
I was very implressed with this bag. First of all i have to tell you what i fit inside this bag1. My DSLR camera with 18-70 lens,2. My 35mm SLR body3. A telephoto zoom lens 55-2004. My Sony HC-42 camcorder.5. All the manuals, filters, film rolls, a mini tripod and the cables for my DSLR and camcorder.I still have enuf room in it left to fit another lens. It has ample side and top pocket space to fit your small stuffs. Sits comfortably on your sholder. Doesn't require you to squat and place it on the ground to access the contents (like backpacks).The only reason i gave it 4-stars is, it would have been perfect with a zippered top rather than vulcrows. Well worth the money.

The top piece basically the neck of the tripod kept collapsing down even after I cranked it to... Very nice tripod Great tripod that is built very sturdy. This includes the easiest part of a tripod to lose the quick shoe/mount that attaches the camera to the tripod. So now I have a $40 + s&h tripod that has a broken crank and the head snapped off of it. The lifespan of my tripod was 2 months tops. I would not recommend this tripod nor any tripod from cannon. DO NOT BUY THIS TRIPOD This is a throw away tripod. You get what you pay for I got this as my first tripod for my Canon T2i or 550D. Also one day while working for a client I set my tripod against one of the walls it tipped over and the head broke off. This works great with Canon cameras and has made taking photographs especially telephoto very easy. A very stable inexpensive basic use tripod. Took many nice shots with it but it didn't take long for the tripod to break. I went looking for a warranty in the box or online and apparently cannon doesn't have a warranty for their tripods.

I have owned and used this tripod for over a year and am utterly glad with it. I've had no issues with the tripod head tilting (shooting primarily with a Rebel XTi and therefore the EF 28-135mm lens) or plastic breaking. 00 Canon Deluxe not a $600. The tripod itself will extend up to fifty nine 1/3 inches (1,507mm), features a water level, fast shoe unharness, and elevator sort extension. 00 this tripod really exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, build, and performance.
