Great battery, Great price
I have been told that this battery will not show the remaining battery level on the XF100. BUT I have other Blue Nook - wasabi batteries for other cameras and lights (sony vx2100, canon xa10 and hdv-z96 video light) and they work as great as they are priced so I thought since I needed another battery that I would buy one and see for myself.I received this battery today (Sat, June 25, 11) and after charging it, it works fine in my Canon XF100 HD camcorder and the battery level DOES show up. I can only say that it does on mine and do not know why it would not on another XF100. I have a 9 hr video shoot today and am planning on using this battery, I will amend this review in the next few days to attest to how the battery performed and if the battery level adjusted accordingly throughout the day.Update- I just returned from my video shoot and the battery performed perfectly. Recommended Accessory For canon XF 100
I needed a spare battery for my Canon XF 100.This is the only battery that I found affordable ¡V the Canon battery costs an arm and a leg!So, as a quality engineering person, let me review the bag in such terms:Functionality:- Excellent. Does what it is supposed to do. The Canon XF 100 has not complained about this battery yet ºUsability:- Well, it was well-understood that this battery will not have the bells and whistles of the original Canon BP-975 ¡V there will be no lights indicating how much juice is still available¡K so I won¡¦t complain about that. Not quite as advertised
The battery does work well enough for the Canon XF100 but the following there statement under product description "comes fully decoded, so it will display the remaining battery life and usage time" is not correct. It will not indicate time usage as the Canon battery does. Customer service was helpful, answered my emails and phone calls but in the end, I think they are still under the impression the battery should show the hours. They sent me a second battery but it also did not perform the time function. For the cost, you have to be accepting of this limitation. I would only ask that they fix the problem or remove the incorrect description.

After a long search I bought this one..
I looked at this camera the Panasonic hvx200, the sonys, the jvc 200, and even Canon's bigger brother the X1. I found this one to have fantastic reviews on DVinfo.net, a great video forum. My concerns about 24f vs 24p were addressed to my satisfaction- there really isn't a difference. I like tape vs the HVX's expensive storage solutions. One concern I had was, will it look like a pro camera? That is important in some situations where your equipment gives you added credibilty with clients and talent.As soon as I opened the box I was in love! This is a really substantial camera. Especially with the opt wide angle from Canon and the matte box provided, this does not look like your mama's camcorder.I really like the manual controls, so that you don't have to go thru menus to change parameters. Perfect companion for XL-H1
About 1 year ago I bought an XL-H1 and a Sony HVR-A1U to do work on a documentary. Though the Sony has proved to be a great camera in its own right, it doesn't cut well with the XL-H1, and the image quality in bright light was near as good, in darker settings, things just fell apart. So I bought this camera XH-A1. I thought when I bought the XL-H1 I would end up buying a second when I could afford it, but I found no compelling reason on a couple of counts. (1) Jack pack is wonderful if you are planning to haul around a RAID array and a generator. I'm sure this would be allot of fun for the run a gunner like myself ;-) (sarcasm). Even though I have heard people criticize the HDV format for compression and artifacts not seen as much with the uncompressed format you get from the HD/SDI output.. I personally think maybe its 1 person in a 1000 who could tell the difference in the end (and they might be faking, I can't). This pictures is NOTHING short of Stunning period. (2) I thought...

The XL H1 is a great camera, used with outstanding results by videographers around the world. If you have the budget and need the professional features not found on the XH A1, this camera is a great choice.Just in response to the review below, this camcorder records conventional HDV 60i, the identical format to that found on any Sony, JVC, or Panasonic camcorder. This footage can be played on any camera or deck supporting HDV.The reviewer refers to 24F and 30F, which are ADDITIONAL formats Canon has developed for their XL and XH series camcorders. 24F in particular is an amazing format, allowing Canon to provide a true 24p framerate at a fraction of the cost of other codecs.If you wanted to use the 24F or 30F formats, and needed to shoot on more than one camera, the other camera could shoot on conventional 24p and be edited in the same timeline within Final Cut. Canon has done it again with another truly remarkable camera. The XLH1 and XLH1a are by far the best camera's in this price range.Actually this camera is better than most that cost 3 or 4 times as much.Great picture quality, very nicely laid out controls, fast auto focus, very clever image stabilizer and a enormous amount of flexibility.I have been a Canon fan and user for 20 years and have never been disappointed. Fabulous. Wonderful. Great!
I love this camera. If you don't have a lot of experience with prosumer cameras (as in my case), the first look may be a bit intimidating (a friend said, "It looks like you're filming tv news"). Especially as I added a Rode shotgun mike (not sure it does anything other than make the sound louder, but...still checking it out).You can't rest the camera on your shoulder, but the image stabilizer helps and the grip and buttons are all well designed and easy to reach. I struggled through the manual, but fortunately bought Dan Curran's dvd about the xh-a1 which appears to be almost identical. This was a -huge- help. I can't recommend it enough if you are at all unsure of what you're looking at. He goes through the simplest things (putting the shoulder strap on) to some very technical settings that you can do. The dvd saved me -so much- learning time and also prevented some careless mistakes (like letting sunlight through the viewfinder).This camera feels like a...

Everything I hoped it would be.
What can I say except this camera is the only one that offers everything you need in this price range. What really sets it apart is the two xlr inputs on the side allowing two microphones to capture sound, and it switchable between external and internal mics, or use both simultaneously. No other camera offers this. Get a lens filter kit and the wide angle and telephoto adapters and you're ready to create anything you can imagine. I recently filmed a music festival using this camera for long shots, close-ups, cutaways, and static shots, everything looks amazing. A tip for the novice to high-def recording- keeping the lens clean and checking it frequently is a must. The tiniest speck of dust looks huge on playback...

Love It !!! Love IT !!! Love It !!!
This camera is not for the novice by any means because once you step out of the auto everything mode it can be quite complicated.Now that being said if it wasn't for all the manual settings and adjustments I would not want it anyway.I have a Canon XLH1 and this camera makes the perfect workmate for it.The picture quality is virtually the same so for a two camera shoot it's great.Although it's about half of the weight of it's big brother the XLH1 it's still a little hard to hold steady since you can't rest it on your shoulder but the image stabilization is very helpful.Also the auto focus is very fast and really comes in handy when you have to run and gun so to speak.All in all this is a great camera with a awesome picture and I simply love it.
