Beautiful pit, excellent customer service from Uniflame
The pit looks great - just like in the picture. Sturdy construction and nice attention to detail. It's probably the best pit you can get for the money. However, the main reason why I'm writing this review is not because of the product, but what happened when I ordered. Yeah, I know this is supposed to be a product review, but bear with me.FedEx had delivered the box in a sorry state. The deliveryman basically gave me a tattered ruin of a box and said sorry. When I opened it all up, the table was missing a leg and the mesh grille top was dented and mangled. Who do I call about this? FedEx? Amazon? Uniflame, or the distributor in Illinois? I decided to call Uniflame first - and I'm happy I did. Within three minutes I had ordered new parts for free, and was told to expect them within a few days. The customer service reps were extremely friendly and understanding - and trusting of their customers. What a company should be. Thanks!

the great outdoors in your backyard
It's like having a campfire in your yard. I have a wood burning fireplace but the ashes, some smoke, and worrying about the tv have me hesitant to use it much. This firepit for the price is fantastic. The stone edging looks great. I was worried it would be too small, but it fits 3 pieces of wood just fine which is all you need. You COULD put 4 or more but it would be crowded and the fire would probably be too large. Put your feet up, sit a mug on the ledge and enjoy. DO keep some tongs or a poker nearby to keep stirring the wood but that's normal when burning real wood. It went together very easily though I used a 12mm(?) socket wrench instead of the included flat wrench. I have not used the cover while the wood is burning - it doesn't look like it will stand up to much heat. But I think it's great for covering once the wood has burned and you have ashes/coals left. My wife and I can't stop talking about it and enjoying it and the kids like it too.Some details:...

Outstanding
This fire pit is the best quality of all the ones I have reviewed and have seen in action. It was so easy to put together. It goes great with the patio set I have. My husband and I enjoy sitting on the deck at night around the fire pit. The only thing I could recommend is that a poker with a lever for easy handling when taking off the screen should be included. You need to keep a oven mitt handy...

Great Little Fire pit
This is our second unit. The first one lasted outside, used at least 75 times a year for 7 years. This is a very sturdy, safe fire pit. The bowl is high enough off the deck that we have used a bbq mat from Ace hardware and the deck does not even get warm to the touch underneath. The opening screen is the only way to go, it makes loading safe ( no hot screen swinging around ), and easy. We just bought the new one because the copper stared to get a little thiner than I liked, and the steel grate was warped after some rather large fires. Good Stuff, very happy with this unit.

Great gathering spot
My son characterized outdoor fire pits as woks, balls, or crockpots. I would add to that big, clunky, hard-to-move unattractive chimineas. This is a wok type. The bowl is a lovely beaten copper. Even with a fire burning in it, the rim is not too hot to touch, so you don't have to worry about little kids touching it and burning themselves. With this type of fire pit, the heat dissipates in all directions and cools from the bottom, so it is not as warm as a camp fire. But on your patio, you don't want it to be. It is portable enough to take along to other places. Easy to clean. I am crazy about it.

Bring this on vacation
Great size for traveling. We brought this on our Cape Cod vacation. We've always liked sitting outside in the evenings but after sunset we would have to move inside. This summer we were able to keep the evenings going by using the fire pit at night. Very atmospheric and the copper bowl is so beautiful.Unexpected bonus - kept the bugs away!!!

Pros:Once assembled the bowl and legs are very sturdy. The bowl handles a decent fire. It has a simple, clean design. The bowl isn't fixed to the legs so it can be easily removed to empty ashes. The bowl is adequately deep. Assembly is straight forward.Cons:The legs aren't machined well meaning it might take some muscle to get the base assembled square. The bowl has a poorly applied copper finish. It looks like thick paint put on with a cheap brush. I missed the word "finish" and thought I was getting a copper bowl. Bummer. The cover is thin, doesn't fit flush with the bowl and bends easily. The bowl and cover rust at the first sign of humidity.

nothing but happy things to say!!
I don't know if the manufacturer fixed the difficulty to assemble (as noted in bad review),or what,but the assembly was easy...it took me twenty minutes. The fire pit is sturdy, beautiful, and does its job perfectly.I suggest not buying a firepit if you dont have an awning to protect it from rain and snow.That or buy and use the cover for 15 bucks. Thats just common sense though. I dont leave my car windows down for the same reason. If you are looking for a firepit at a great price, that is beautiful,and easy to assemble...this is it!

Product is as described and assembly was quite easy.PROS: Attractive. Bowl and Screen are large enough for sufficient fire. The rim design is attractive. There is a flat insert so it can be used as a table. The knobs are counter-sunk for a clean look. The poker is a nice, long size.CONS: There isn't a place to EASILY store the poker or the table top when they aren't in use.Fills with water during rain if you leave the bowl outside (why wouldn't you?) So, I drilled a drain hole in the bottom. This is true of MOST portable firepits.It meets my expectations for a portable fire pit.It meets my expectations and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

VERY HAPPY!!
My husband received this as a gift for his last birthday. We use it to have a safer campfire for us and the kids on those cool nights when we want to be outside. We have LOVED it. The handle for the screen is kind of short, so we bought a $4 longer handle fireplace poker at Target and have been very pleased. Lots of warmth. This added another month to our time outside last year. Looking forward to getting it out again this year.

No cover available and food poisoning?????
I noticed that the newer boxes come with covers- I can't seem to find a cover for this in the stores or on-line. Also, had I known that you could get food poisoning from this item I would have purchased a different item. I had the whole marshmallow roasting in mind when I bought it and now it will just be a temptation to the kids without any benefit. It is attractive though and was extremely easy to put together.
