Amazing rig for the price!
When I first saw this pop up on amazon I was very skeptical, I know you usually get what you pay for. After getting this I realized when you spend $500-$1000+ on a rig and follow focus you pay for the brand name (red rock, zaucto, etc).This rig/follow focus seems very sturdy. When I took it out of the box I was expecting a very light cheap set up, but the whole thing has a very high quality feel. The only thing that I could see maybe breaking years down the road are the blue thumb tightening screws since they are plastic.The follow focus is very nice, the whole system has no play. The final gear to the lens has a SMALL amount of play nothing I am concerned about. The gear for the lens stays in place and I have not had any issues, I just need one for each lens now. I trimmed about an inch off the end so I didn't have as much hanging off the end and I can still get around all the lenses I have.The mounting block has 4 tripod mounting holes and...

Very Impressed!
So I have been staring at this item for almost two months now...To say the least i was very skeptical...I finally decided to bite the bullet and make the purchase, I figured the worse that could happen is I loose out on shipping and decide to return it...BUT WHY WOULD I EVER DO THAT! Now that it is in my hands I really don't understand why anyone would spend big bucks on big name brand stuff. I am a video production major and also film weddings and other free lance projects. Trust me this is worth the buy! I have my Canon 7D on it with a 24-105mm L series lens and it fits perfectly. With the easy to adjust follow focus I don't ever foresee running into any problems with any lens purchase.In fewer words...Buy this, You won't regret it.

Overall, the rig is very nice. I'm happy with it. Easy to hold, and the mount is broad enough to use HD DSLR or full sized camcorder like the Canon XH-A1. I have only tried it out around the house, making home movies of our new puppy, but even though there's no counterweight, it isn't heavy on your arms.Hand Grips are comfortable. The machining isn't quite precise, as the holes are VERY tight, and it is difficult to slip the rods through. I needed to pry it open with a flat sided screwdriver. However, the threads are tight and responsive. The thumbscrews are plastic, so we'll see how long they last. But I think it is a great option for newbies who can't afford Zacuto or Cinevate rigs.If you are looking for other options, I would choose eBay. There are better rigs and better prices. I also saw this same item that came straight from the factory for $290. That set includes a chintzy matte box that looks pretty useless (I bought it because I needed a follow focus)...

Great for the price!
Customer Video Review Length:: 3:23 MinsI am using this rig for my Sony NEX-3 camera and Sony Z1U camcorder! The build quality is great with the matte box being all plastic and the frame being metal. Managed to mount it on a tripod and the shoulder mount works well. Does require a lot of tightening and set up time would be around 25min max. I've provided pictures above of my set up for reference. The follow focus has a long enough cord to fit pretty much all lens sizes. The white ring around the follow focus allows me to make measurement markings on it using a sharpe marker and cleans off nicely. Over all nice set for the pro and beginner.

Great little Rig!
The pictures are very accurate to what this thing looks and feels like. I was originally worried it would be light, or that the rails would be some sort of plastic, but its not. This rig has a nice quality feel to it. rails are aluminum I believe, very solid. The follow focus is very solid. I am very happy with this rig. I am 6'1 200lbs and this thing feels great in my hands.A couple things to note. The barn doors are plastic, as well as the hinges for it, its fine for now, but I could imagine them drooping over time, or losing their grip. Metal would be better. Make sure you add weights to the back to balance out the rig otherwise it will be very front heavy.

Cheapest follow focus
The price was right, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It took about 5 days to receive it, which is acceptable. I tried it out on my Canon 60D and the 15-85 lens. Works like a champ. However, the build quality is lacking (you get what you pay for). The turn knob slipped a little bit (didn't move the gears) so I had to take a hex wrench to loosen the screw, reposition it, then tighten it back. Solved the problem. Also the adjustable ring doesn't fit as tightly as I'd like it to, but again--it works for the number of times we'll use it.

Good product - but will not fit a camera with a battery grip.
Construction and packaging is good, but by default(without any other attachments)the design of this follow-focus will not work with a camera using a battery grip. I tried to use this on a T3i Canon with a battery grip. The follow focus is too low. Only purchase this follow-focus if you plan on using a DSLR without a battery grip. I find I need a battery grip for more battery life.

Certainly Not Pro, But Adequate
I don't think I am surprising anyone by saying this, but this is not a pro-grade follow focus by any stretch. However, it is adequate for the applications I personally use it for, and I could much more easily justify $150 for this ePhoto version versus $300-$500 and above for a professional model. My main negative would be the gear belt not staying tight on the lens without having to re-tighten the small bolt a few times through the shoot. I did like the "stiffness" of the the follow focus itself; there was no play in the movement, and it stayed in place once the focus point was found and marked. Mounts well on my Manfrotto tripod head, and the position is easily adjustable. This is a decent entry-level follow focus for those who just need a cheap, simple solution.

A great start to complete rail system
After buying a Canon 7D and knowing that it has some pretty powerful video abilities, I had to start exploring the video side of this camera. The only problem with DSLRs is that they are designed first as still cameras. As a video camera without any type of support, they are difficult at best. It's just hard to hand hold these cameras and get any type of decent shots.That's why I bought this rail system. I can immediately mount it on a tripod and start right away getting the type of shots I wanted. The follow focus system is very well built and doesn't need two or three different size rings for different lenses like some of the more expensive rigs out there. The DP500 follow focus simply works on each and everyone of my lenses. From my 24-70L all the way down to my plastic, 50mm.And it's expandable too! great for the price
I have been shooting video since 1985 and have kept up with the advancements in video to stay in business, some companies thing that they can charge you thousands of dollars for a few pieces of aluminum and a base place. ARE THEY CRAZY!The EZFoto rail system is one of a few devices that are made with quality materials, they are solid and very functional....that said i have used this on a Panasonic AF100 without any issues, i used it on a Sony A77 with several lenses and also with minimal issues. no need to buy a system like a Chroziel and spend $2 or $3k on a system you can get for under $200.00.I have both the Chroziel and the EZFoto and every camera assist i show this to on a shoot are sold on it. the only issue i do not like with this system is the ribbons locks, they are a bit large and sometimes they come into play when doing a focus. a little adjustment and your fine but still a bit of a pain in the ass. the other thing is no website to show you other...
