A must have
This device is an absolute must-have for any photographer--amateur or professional. I've been shooting professionally for over 30 years and I never take it off my camera except for in-studio tripod work. The strap attaches to the right shoulder strap loop on your camera, and has an attachment plate that screws into the tripod mount on the underside of the camera. Even with the wrist strap connected, there is an additional loop provided on the plate so that you can also attach a shoulder strap if desired. Your hand slides between the padded area of the grip and the camera, and you can adjust the tightness to fit your hand size. Your fingers will naturally curl around the grip of your camera and the Opteka grip holds your hand in place. Even with your hand completely relaxed, your camera will fall out of your hand. I use it on my Canon 5D Mark II with the large 24-105 L lens and it's comfortable enough to carry the camera without a shoulder strap all day without tiring. This is not an...

The "Yellow" of the "Egg"...
As a pro with more than 30 years in the business, I have never used this type of camera strap - I always wiped it away as a "Micey Mouse Thing".Now, after all these years I finally purchased one and I can't believe the difference...Okay, much safer than hand carrying - but this is the secondary part - the important difference is the feel, and the sensitivity in the trigger-finger. While normally the fingers merely occupied holding the camera, you have now the weight different distributed and your fingers free for the actual important and sensitive task to push buttons, turn the wheel etc. A must-feel-experience!I can't believe the difference! I just ordered the second one for another camera....To go more in detail - my cameras are quite heavy and most of them have a battery grip. This makes the distance between tripod mount and upper strap attachment perfect for this hand strap. On most of my cameras I have about 4+ inches, adequate to have the strap snug...

Good deal for the price
I'm not an expert w/handstraps, but this one seems to do the trick. There we no instructions on how to install this handstrap (seemed easy enough to me until I actually started to install it). I recommend referencing the additional pictures when installing. They show the correct front/back of the strap (for comfort purposes, the "Opteka" label should face towards the back). When I pulled mine out of the package, it was backwards, so I had to pull the strap out from the comfort pad and reinstall it.All in all, a solid product well worth the money. Honestly, it even looks better (and more comfortable) than the other handstraps that are 3x as much. I use mine with my Nikon D80, and it works greak (and no additional "vertical" grip required to fit/feel great).

Comfortable, and apparently (!) secure
This neoprene wrist strap is comfortably wide, can be cinched to your hand with the included buckle-like device, and is not so long that your camera will dangle far from your wrist when you let go of it.My only concern is the plastic clip that attaches the neoprene wrist strap to the lanyard portion secured to the camera. It looks sturdy enough, and hasn't given any indication that it's going to come loose, but given how easy it is to get your hand into and out of the wrist strap, it seems like the inclusion of this clip doesn't add enough value to the product to justify the loss of peace of mind.If you were going to be switching between a neck strap and this wrist strap, the plastic clip would probably make that process quick and easy, but if, like me, you're only interested in securing your camera with a wrist strap, the clip feels unnecessary.

Good Basic Strap
Strap was purchased to replace a neck strap provided with a Canon G11 digital camera. I do not like anything hanging around my neck that has any weight. The camera is heavy enough that a skinny strap used for the small point-n-shoot cameras would not offer adequate security. As other reviews has described, the plastic snap connector adds no value and perhaps is a negative feature.Another consideration is the size of the connecting ribbon cord to the camcorder or camera. This braided cord is substantial, about 3/8" x 1/8", not a weak link in the strap assembly. The negative side of this is its size is just big enough not to fit through my camera's strap loop. I have cut down a plastic electrical cable loop to use as an interface between the camera's loop and the braided cord. The plastic cable loop has holes for a screw that I used to attach the cord. The cable loop is white so I dyed it black with fabric dye. Functions well and looks very good.Overall,...

Great Strap
I use wrist straps for my dSLR cameras. I have never had reason to buy anything more expensive than this item (and its predecessors).I have used this strap on these Canon camera bodies: 5D Mark II, Digital Rebel T3, Digital Rebel, and Rebel 2000. It works great on all of them. The padding in the pleather grip is full and soft, and the texture on the pleather itself ensures the grip will not slide off my hand.I cannot recommend this item more.

It works very well
I bought this strap for my Canon EOS 60D and it works very well. I changed from a neck strap because I've now a camera backpack with side opening and a neck or shoulder strap is troublesome when using the side opening too often. The product I got have the tripod socket as shown in the picture, but I rather don't use it because the socket isn't big enough to make me fell comfortable when I put it on the tripod head release plate. I'm giving only four stars because this product isn't long enough to be used with the camera battery grip attached, a warning in the product description would be appreciated.

Mobility + Security
I own a Canon 20D and this wrist gives you the possibility to carry the camera on a secure way plus adding major mobility than the standard neck strap, you can take the camera far away from your body much more than wearing the neck strap. i.e.: Shooting down on a building window is really difficult with the neck strap on.Suitable for all SLR cameras and some Point N Shot, note that the strap end is wider than several ones included on the Point N shot cameras.

A Great wrist strap!

Not just for Camcorders
I bought this hand strap not for a camcorder but for a Canon S3 IS digi-cam. The strap fit snugly through the eyelet that is intended for the camera's neck strap. The strap holds the camera securely and is long enough to provide plenty of mobility for access the camera controls. The only negative is that I wish the entire strap was made of the same material. The portion that threads through the eyelet is woven nylon but the hand portion appears to be a cotton blended fabric. I suppose the cotton breathes better but it has a more faded and worn look to it than the nylon portion.

GREAT ACCESSORY
I have two Canon Rebel EOS 450 XSi cameras so I purchased two Cowboy Studio Hand Wrist Grip Straps. Ordering from SUPER DEAL in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday, the order arrived here in Oregon SUPER DEAL fast - Friday morning. Wow! I guess that is why shipping was a little high priced. Still, two of these hand straps at around $10.00 total (delivered to my door) is a GREAT BARGAIN.I have added the extra battery and extended external hand grip to both cameras. I was worried that the Battery Grips would make the straps too short to fit. Na, they are sufficiently adjustable to easily fit even this set-up - even with my fairly large hands.I took off my neck straps and easily replaced them with the Hand Strap Grips. If you want to have both on your camera at the same time, maybe you should order the one made by OPTICA. Personally, I hate the neck strap that came with my Canon cameras. Much cheaper than Name brand solutions and surprisingly well constructed. Much cheaper than a name brand solution. If you have been looking for a hand strap but don't want to pay the canon prices get it you won't be sorry. The pad does not have any kind of logo on it so it looks professional.
