Overlooked gem
The dozier line is truly awesome. No bells, no whistles, but just good AUS 8 steel which is RIDICULOUS in a knife this cheap. Most knives at this price point use horrible quality stainless steel. Love the pink as the color stands out if dropped in water or dark conditions. Orange might be even better but I can't resist pink.

Great Knife
This is absolutely a great knife, regardless of cost. In fact, I bought 3 different versions of the KA-BAR Dozier, and they're all as good as or better than many of the much more expensive U.S. made knives I own... and that's a sad but honest testament to fit and finish and quality control among U.S. knife makers these days. These are not made in China, but Taiwan, which enjoys a much better reputation for quality manufacturing than China; and it shows with these knives as well.Sharp as a razor right out of the box; no play in the blade whatsoever, front to back or side to side; tight and centered blade; and evenly ground and sharpened on both sides.Hard to believe these knives are so inexpensive; and I own dozens from makers like Benchmade, Spyderco, Ontario, Kershaw, Gerber, Victorinox, Buck, CRKT, SOG, Cold Steel, Opinel, Case, Boker, and various laguiole makers.

Great value!
I bought this knife for the intent as using it as a beater knife, i.e., one I can use on tough cutting tasks without the guilt of possibly ruining the knife. Compared to knives if similar price, it blows them away in terms of quality and sharpness. I like the AUS8 steel blade and the black coating. I also like the black coated clip. The FRN handle feels solid, but it could use a bit more traction. The lock back mechanism had no play. However, it is not as secure when compared to more expensive knives, which is OK. I tried the zip-tie pocket snag, and the locking mechanism did no hold the blade in open position. It rebounded and became loose again. It is not a problem anyway, as the blade deploys fast and has very little slop in the open position. This is a best buy!
