Excellent manual grinder
I don't know about the other reviewers. I can get a cup of flour in a much shorter time that 10-15 minutes. ?? That being said it is a MANUAL grinder. I use my electric when I want a lot of flour. I basically got this one to crack grain for cereal, but then we found out my daughter has non-celiac gluten intolerance. This is great because I was able to take this apart and wash with soap and water and dry really well, so we are able to grind rice and other grains without it becoming contaminated with the wheat. I use my electric grinder to grind up my wheat and now this one for other flours. It is manual, so it is hard work if you are grinding up large amounts of anything. For that I recommend an electric model. But for small amounts or for a preparedness tool, this is a great grinder.One last note: Although my flour from my electric grinder is a finer flour than I can get out of this grinder, this grinder still grinds flour fine enough for bread.

Good, simple, sturdy grinder
Pros:- Solid build - 3/16" aluminum, single piece body - nothing to break.- One moving part (grinding head), seems pretty strong- Easy to clean, seems rust-proof- Does not damage counter-tops (it's clamp-mount), due to a rubber pad and good pressure distribution.- Grinds predictably, not super-dust-like fine, but fine enough.- Can grind many things (nuts, seeds, etc) as longs as they are fairly small (see Cons)- looks nice- Thin enough to be stored in a kitchen drawer, fully assembledCons:- Manual (Requires effort) - but that's understood.- Very slow with flax seeds (must be set to very coarse - back nut off a lot), but does the job.- Large grains or nuts (eg almonds) need to be chopped first - they simply don't fit through the teeth.- Not easily suited for use with a handheld drill (Yes I thought about making it electric for bigger jobs). Can probably be done but you'll need to clamp the square...

Easy and Useful
I bought this product so that I could grind small amounts of flour from less common whole grains for breadmaking and emergency preparedness purposes.The grinder is very simple to put together and fairly easy to use. Be aware that you may have to tighten the clamp occasionally as you use the grinder, but it is not difficult to do. I wouldn't attempt to grind large amounts of flour at a time unless you want your arms to hurt, but it is perfect for grinding a few cups at a time for a recipe- and kids love to help out!Also, while the coarseness of the flour can be varied, but it will not produce a superfine (cake) flour.

Best mill available for the money
If money is no object the country living mill is better and twice as expensive. The other well known mill in this price range is Lehman's "Our Best Grain Mill." I've owned a Lehman's best for 16 years. It's inferior in every way. The hopper is a plastic funnel stuck in a hole and will fall off if you look at it wrong. The Wondermill Junior hopper that holds the grain is an integral part of the body. The Lehman's Best Grain Mill metal burrs are cast iron and subject to rusting. The WM Jr metal burrs are stainless steel, the Deluxe also includes stone burrs. The Lehman's clamp is an inferior one screw design. The WM Jr is secure with a soldid two screw clamp design.If the deluxe is out of your budget there is also the less expensive basic and the only difference is you do not get the stainless steel burrs (just the stone burrs) and you do not get the clamp, you can screw it to a table. Both items can be added later. The stone burrs are best for grinding flour...

Great Customer Service
I bought one of these from an Amazon seller in November 2009, after I got to play with one in a store. It has a very smooth grinding motion and feels sturdy.Well, lazy me, I didn't try to use mine until today, February 10, 2010. I found I was missing pins on the housing and figured that I would be SOL since it had been so long. My husband called Wondermill's number and got an answering machine. I'm now thinking, great - they'll probably never call back. Can you tell I've previously had bad experiences with customer-no-service at various companies?About 15 minutes later, the phone rings - hey, Wondermill called! After a few minutes of explanation, my husband was told the pins should have been pre-installed in the housing and they would be shipped to us. My husband also mentioned to the guy that the backing plate on one of the grinding stones was slightly out of position and asked if it would affect its operation. Here's what I wanted in a mill:1. The ability to grind very fine flour.2. A mill that could be cleaned well enough to grind gluten-free flours after grinding wheat.3. A hand-powered mill to have on hand for emergency preparedness.Since I couldn't afford 3 separate mills, I settled on the Wonder Junior Deluxe.Here's how it met my requirements:1. This mill can grind a very fine flour, but only if you grind it coarsly, then again on a finer setting. The problem with this is the second grind takes a VERY long time. Doing a single grind, I was able to grind 4 cups of hard red winter wheat into bread flour in 20 minutes. I was grinding like I was trying to set a world record though, just to see how fast I could physically grind wheat. I do not grind this fast on a regular basis. Cracked Wheat Breakfast Cerial
I have been using the same Corona Corn Mill for almost 60 years to coarse grind wheat to cook for breakfast cereal. I find it easy to adjust and easy enough to turn. Unlike the electric grinders it does not heat the cereal in the process. I have tried to grind wheat into flour with it. The resultant flour is useable, but almost too coarse. I have never had any trouble with the machine. I am only now looking for a replacement because I have lost three of the parts over the years. Richard L. Halliday of Portland, Oregon

it is a $15 grain mill.
I bought this product to crush grains for brewing beer. It does an acceptable job. The grind isn't the most consistent, but again, for $15 it gets it done for my needs.the construction is what you would expect for a $15 china made item. It is real basic, and the machining leaves a bit to be desired. The handle on the crank fell off within a few turns but can be fixed with a simple screw. The cover on the front is held on with two wing nuts that required me to go find two washers out of my junk drawer to properly tighten down.If you are looking for something to do a coarse grind on something for cheap this will handle it. If you are looking for a quality fine grind then look somewhere else.

Product Description

It is what it is, but it does the job
If this grain mill is made in Poland, it's the same one I used in colllege. In three years time, I ground two 50-pound bags of wheat through one of these. The trick is to send the wheat through three times, each grind being successively finer (you tighten the adjustment screw a little tighter each time). It's work, but it does the job. Most of us need to burn a few extra calories anyway, so the extra effort isn't a bad thing if you're physically able to handle it.

Really good grinder
I was surprised that this grinder got wheat so fine. I was thinking it would simply roll the wheat, but it actually grinds hard red and hard white wheat enough to use to make dough. It is manual, so I wouldn't recommend it for doing a lot of baking, but if you are going to use it occassionally or want a back up to your electric grinder - this will do the job. The price was great as well. My kids also love using it - an added bonus!

It works well for me
I like this little grinder. For wheat I put the setting on '1' and away I went. The wheat had a grain/flour consistency and a second pass made it just fine. The only negative I've had so far is with the flour catcher - it's not quite big enough and there is a little mess but I solved this problem with a plastic leftovers container.
