Great product
I'm Not exactly sure how anyone could break this item by crushing ice....I have been using my new ice crusher fairly moderately and have had no problems.I was a bit disappointed to find that the housing is made of plastic, as the description does not say otherwise, and the picture conveniently looks like it could be made from some type of polished metal. The unit is a bit difficult to anchor down while using, and you must crank the handle around quickly to keep it going, so it doesn't get stuck on the ice. Overall, I am very please with this product.

I love you, my fabulous ice crushing machine!
The Waring IC70 is a MACHINE! This baby can crush my ice cubes any day. I've found the resulting ice chunks to be perfect for crunching and munching on(I have a compusive ice chewing habit). It is very easy to use, just plug it in, turn on the switch and dump in the ice cubes. It was crushing away on my countertop mere moments after our hottie UPS guy rang the doorbell. Essentially, feed ice cubes into the chute on top and a nice, big plastic bin below receives the lovely crushed output. The stainless steel housing is attractive and understated, but this guy is a little on the large size. Still, I'm willing to give up the counterspace in order to appease my crushed ice needs. I crush roughly 14 ice cube trays worth of ice a day and there is never a hitch. I have had ice cubes get wedged in the chute when I dump a whole tray of ice in at once but this is easily fixed by rocking it gently back and forth.I found this product far superior to the Deni which makes...

Does what it says it does, and well
I was tempted to buy a less expensive hand ice crusher, but then read some of the disasterous reviews of those, and opted instead for this ice crusher based on most of the positive feedback. Knowing that it would not make "shaved ice" before I acquired it has kept my expectations realistic, and it performs exactly as I thought it would, actually better. A friend thought I paid hundreds of dollars for this since it looks very no-nonsense and professional. It crushes the ice into random chunks ranging from pea-sized to marble sized, even though I feed it pretty large cubes from a tray.I have even frozen diet soda in a tray and fed it through to make flavorful "chewing ice" since I love to chew on ice. You can eat this "soda pop ice" in a cup with a spoon, and it is a lot less caloric than ice cream and satisfies the desire in the summer to eat something ice cold when it is hot outside. However, it is not to be confused with the products you can buy at the convenience...

Great Product!
This product is exactly what I had been wanting - a simple ice crusher that is easy to use. I had been using a blender before, and this is much simpler and also not as loud. It makes somewhat coursely crushed ice (not shaved) that is great for putting in cold drinks. The manual also talks about using it to create ice beds for serving food on (such as shellfish). I guess that would be possible, although I think it would take a long time to make that much crushed ice. It takes around 1 minute to make enough crushed ice to fill an 8-10 oz glass. Also, the machine will occasionally freeze up (no pun intended) if you put in too much ice at once, especially large cubes. If that happens, you have to pour hot water into the top to melt the ice that is stuck.

My wive is in crushed ice heaven!
My wife loves to crunch ice. We purchased a new refrigerator with an ice crusher, but the chunks were fairly large for crunching, with pieces about 1/2" to 5/8" in size. I was hoping that this unit would crush ice further to make more of a slushie ice. To my wife's delight, this unit crushes ice to a fairly uniform 1/4" and under piece size, perfect for crunching. The ice chunks end up soft and easy on the teeth, and, like a slushie, hold onto soda or juice for flavor. The unit is used two to three times a day and seems pretty rugged.

A Dream Come True!
I have always wanted an ice crusher for my fresh brewed ice tea and now my new found martini recipes. Well this is one of the best purchases I've made on Amazon!Yes, people complained about one ice cube at a time, that is not the case.I have an ice maker and can put two to three cubes at a time and it crushes a large glass full within a minute! It makes perfect crushed ice and it's not loud like trying to use a blender.I HIGHLY recommend this product for those of you considering the purchase!Happy Summer drinking :)

Good for the limited capability
While the Deni 6100 replaced a 50's hand-crank crusher, it is limited by the fact that it is not adjustable and crushes ice to a relatively fine size, smaller than our old hand style that had 3 settings. There is a spring-loaded trap door where you insert the ice cubes and sometimes it catches a cube, but is no big deal. Watch out for 'counter flooding' from where the crushed ice collects inside the the outlet (where you cannot see it). While most of the ice falls into a clear plastic container the ice that remains in the crusher can result in a considerable amount water dripping onto the base as it melts if you do not replace the container. Also, the shape of the container is a bit awkward, as it can stick. It looks rather space-age and is compact so it does not take up much space (although it is probably not an appliance that tends to find a permanent place on the counter). Oh, yeah! It is fairly loud and sounds like something is breaking (which it is).

Does a pretty good job
First and foremost, this ice crusher does a pretty good job. The top half of the ice crusher is heavy compared to the base so it can be knocked off balance. It does a good job crushing even large ice cubes from the traditional Rubbermaid ice trays. It does not grind the ice into snow but I didn't expect or want it to. One down side is that the finish of the ice reservoir (the bottom half) gets damaged if you put it in the dishwasher. You also can't load a large amount (more than a cup and a half I would think) of ice at a time.

Meh.
This ice crusher is just okay. It is very top heavy making it hard to keep still as you turn the crank. It would have been much better if it came with a clamp to clamp it to your counter top while you use it. It does not crush the ice very fine, definitely not for snow cones and the like. I usually use it to get the ice into smaller pieces to put in my blender so I don't end up with large chunks in my smoothies. When I was a kid we had an electric ice crusher that, although was loud like nothing else, worked really well at making small pieces of ice. I would like to have something more like that.

I love it!
I just love this ice shaver. I have used it everyday during the hot season to make shaved ice for my 4 and 3 year olds. When you use the 3 included ice molds the shaved ice comes out perfectly even. I used regular ice cubes once and it came out lumpy with big chunks. I can get about 3.5 cones worth of shaved ice from each ice mold. I also love that it is easy to use.

Fantastic!!! It made our 4th July weekend extra special.
I purchased this snow cone maker as a last minute 4th July long weekend treat. Since we didn't plan much for the weekend and didn't want to spend a lot on a last minute idea so I purchased this manually-operate machine instead of the motorized one. As it turns out, it was the BEST little purchase I have ever made. It comes with three nice size ice bowls. Each ice block is big enough to make two good size treats. Don't remember the last time that I had a fresh snow cone for a treat. It really made our long weekend a little extra special.The reason that I had to write a review was to confirm how great and easy this product is to use. I saw the one-star reviewer and I thought that was because you have to do one extra step that is not on the user manual, in order to make this machine works. That is to expose the "teeth" under the hand crank in order for it to grip the ice like the ice-climber shoes; otherwise, this product "will not work". The teeth are looking like...

A gem for the price
Just got this yesterday. Took their advice and used the supplied molds and not just plain ice cubes (will try that later). Made one helping of frozen milk and two of plain ice. This morning, I put the block of milk in the hopper and cranked out some BEAUTIFUL shaved (not crushed, not flaked, but beautifully shaved) ice milk. Topped it with some chocolate syrup and just enjoyed the heck out of it. I'm not sure why the other reviewer found it so hard to crank the unit. I'm 61 with mild arthritis in both hands and didn't have any problem. I don't know how much hard use this beauty will take but I figure for $18 I can afford to buy a new one every summer.

Sturdy, reliable and good value for money
It takes about 1 min to fill the compartment, which is enough for 2 drinks. The size of crushed ice is just right. On very hot days, to avoid as much melting as possible, I have the compartment + scoop and cocktail glasses in the freezer. After use, just rinse with warm water and dry to reduce water stains on shiny surface.This ice crusher is perfect if you are doing up to 6 drinks at a time. If you want more crushed ice, an electrical system might be more convenient. Or let your guests assist you by crushing ice while you are mixing!

Could be better constructed, but works well
This ice crusher has a nice solid weight (from its metal frame) and crushes ice evenly (although it takes a bit longer than my old Ice-O-Mat from the '50s). I was more than a little disappointed, however, by the flimsiness of its plastic parts -- the lid and (especially) the ice tray which slides in and out. The tray doesn't really fit well in the designated space, and wobbles as you slide it. It is very lightweight, and I'm afraid it might break if dropped or hit against the counter accidentally. The edges of the inner frame, which houses the tray, are also quite sharp, so be careful. I'm still wondering if I should keep it, if it is worth the money for the quality (or lack thereof).
