Works great
I installed this unit to replace my previous multiswitch when I converted to the DirecTV 5 LNB dish for MPEG-4 HD signals. I just removed the old one and connected up the WB68 with no problems, with either the 3 LNB dish before conversion or the 5 LNB dish after conversion. My old multiswitch had a power brick that had to be plugged in in the attic, while this unit is powered by voltage on the coax from the satellite receivers. This would be a definite plus if you were installing it in a location that had no power available. I was always concerned about the possibility of the previous unit's power supply catching on fire in a superheated attic, but that is not a possibility with the WB68.

Installed this and Signal Strength Improved?
The WB68 offers an inexpensive way to increase the available inputs from your 5LNB KA/KU or new Slimline 5LNB dish. This is the only Multiswitch approved by DirecTV to process new MPEG-4 signals.I installed this device when expanding inputs from four (max with the dish alone) to six. Installation was a breeze and - to my utter surprise - signal strengths noted during guided setup of new DirecTV HD boxes actually IMPROVED.Highly recommended!

Great multi switch.
I installed this myself switch so I could add 2 more(4 total) Tivos with 2 tuners each of my satellite system. Unit worked great until I added a free upgrade to HD DVR. I was told that my dish would have to be upgraded. They the installer ran new cable as we as replaced my switch... I checked, the installer replace my switch with 2 of the same model as this one.Don't cha love it.

Relatively easy install, fewer wires
First of all, the dish arrived in the most amazingly well-packed way I've ever received any item via shipping. It took a while to get out out of the packaging, but I'm pretty sure the UPS truck could have run it over and done no damage to the parts inside. The instructions were thorough, all the parts were present. I spent more time finding a suitable location (i.e. no trees in the way) and all the tools I needed than actually mounting and leveling. Use a good compass -- none of the compass apps on my smart phone were accurate enough. Thankfully I had an engineering compass from my boy scouting days, and it lined up like a champ.Note that you cannot use the cheap satellite alignment detectors with SWM dishes, but most of the newer receivers are fast enough (HR-24, etc) that you can use their signal-strength indicators effectively.

Faster than DirecTV
I ordered this dish because DirecTV said it would take 6 weeks before they could get around to install a new dish so I could get HD programming and this was the best price I could find.I began to be a bit concerned with the vendor when, just a few hours after sending in my order, I received an email from Amazon announcing the package had been shipped but I could not find the tracking number in the FedEx system. My credit card was quickly charged so I was starting to wonder what I had gotten into. Not to worry, though, several days later the package was delivered to FedEx and they delivered it promptly. The dish arrived in excellent condition - the packaging was not factory original but, it was much better packaged than any product I've ever received. They must have used a mile or more of tape and I spent quite a while cutting up the packaging after I'd unpacked the dish to get all the packing in the recycle bin.The package contained everything needed to install and...

Directv three slim line dish combo
Directv technicians refused to install our dish on our floating home due to the obvious movement issues. Our dish arrived in perfect condition and we installed it on a piling. We used our receiver to aim our dish and soon had our system up and running. We learned that with this dish and hd dvr setup you need to use all the parts included to zero in on the southern satellite. Also, the cheap satellite finder is a superfluous piece of equipment we didn't take out of the box. Once we figured out the general direction of Texas, we were good to go. The receiver did all the work and is now working perfectly.

HR24-500 Finally A Great Product From DTV
I just recently purchased this unit and activated it yesterday. What a major difference from my HR20-700 which this unit is replacing. I mean the difference in overall performance is night and day. One of the major problems I was having with the HR20 was the lag or delay with the response after a button was pressed on my remote. I mean at times it would literally take a full 5 to 8 seconds (I timed it several times) for the action to take place once the button was pressed on the remote. This was driving me absolutely nuts. The HR24-500 is lightning fast. No lag or delay whatsoever. The response time is immediate; the way it should be. Another major improvement is the speed within the guide, especially when navigating to channel 1100's or VOD channels. Again, the HR20 would seriously lag here and take an inordinate amount of time opening any channel. The HR24 opens each and every channel immediately. Again, the way it should be.On an another note, the HR24 is...

Decent Tivo replacement but you may need the "B-Bands"!
We installed a DirecTivo in 2001. When in 2008 Tivo announced they would produce a new, HD DirecTivo we were delighted, and opted to hold our HD upgrade until it came out. Time passed, and passed and passed and the new Tivo went off to live with Duke Nukem in vaporware land. Finally pulled the string on the purchase of a new AV receiver, a new 46in LED TV, and this DVR. Now it is installed and working, how does it compare to our old Tivo?First, a warning: the HR24 DVR is designed to work with a SWM dish. That's single-wire multiswitch, a single black coax cable from the dish. If you have what our installer called "a legacy installation," aka Multiswitch, characterized by TWO cables from the dish, then in addition to the DVR you need a pair of "B-Band converters." These are small boxes that go inline with the coax cables to convert something to some other thing. There are no B-Band converters in this box. They are available from Amazon, just search on "DirecTV B Band...

    2nd one fine
Mine is the HR24-200 model manufactured by Samsung. You may not know that 4 different companies manufacture these to keep up with demand. The HR24-500 has a rear fan to aid in cooling. The 100, 200, and 700 do not. The 200 and 500 have both optical and coaxial 5.1 audio connections, the 100 and 700 only have the coaxial connector. I would think the 500 model manufactured by the old Hughes company would be the best. Here is a breakdown on the different companies manufacturing Directv boxes:-100 Thomson (mfg the HR24)-200 Samsung (mfg the HR24)-300 Philips-400 Hughes-500 Humax (mfg the HR24)-600 LG-700 Pace (mfg the HR24)-800 NECNow for my review. Yes I know they are leased, so I`m not going to ramble on about being "ripped off". I `ve been a subscriber since 2004, so it`s not an issue for me. I leased my directly from Diretv for $99 plus tax after asking them for a "good customer" discount. The installer arrived the next day...

    Works great
I ordered this product as a replacement for the one that was initally installed by Direct TV. During a lightening storm a bolt was a near-miss (it hit a tree located about 20 feet from our satelite dish) however my Direct TV became screwy - I would receive some channels and not others. When I checked my satelite strength I saw that I was getting a signal on all of the "even" transponders were receiving a signal but not on the "odd" ones. Next I checked the multi-switch (it is located where the cables from the satelite split into your house) and I found it to be very warm/hot to the touch. I ordered and installed the "Eagle Aspen" multiswitch from Amazon and my problem was fixed. At the end of the day I saved myself a costly repair visit by Direct TV!

Users can also connect cable and antenna feeds to the switch to receive both local and satellite programming without running several cables to each TV. Latest DTV Setup
The SWM is the latest HD LNB setup for DTV customers. Signal reception is slightly better over the previous 5LNB and now you only need 1 line out from the satellite LNB's (no matter how many recievers you have) with the power for the LNB's no longer coming from the reciever. It is much easier to split the signal to several recievers and initial alignment is a bit more difficult for the DIYers. The picture on this item of the LNB is not of the SWM LNB. The SWM LNB has one line out and one large "egg like" oval in the center of it.

    Works as advertised.
I received the dish ahead of schedule and it was packed well. The installation was a bit tricky since there wasn't any instructions. The alignment was really difficult but possible. Once again some instructions would have been helpful. I'm an electronics/ computer tech so my experience served me for this but I pitty the normal individual trying to install and align this dish.

If it doesn't work on any of the positions it will never work in MP. If it does, then you've found the correct diseqc position for that input on your diseqc switch, and it should be possible to derive/test the positions for the other inputs. So, if you scan the LNBs separately without the diseqc switch, you could then manually configure the diseqc setting later. Then add the diseqc switch back in and configure the diseqc option in FastSatfinder until you have a signal. Funny thing is that I have one very old switch which allways has been the most relieable, all new switches are causing problems. I belive I have tried just about every imaginable combination of settings in TV server and various combination of 2-1 and 4-1 switches with the different cards. Not sure how knowledgeable you are or what you've tried to date, but what I would do in your case is remove the diseqc switch, install FastSatfinder , configure it for your device, and tune in to a known transponder. My diseqc switches have inputs marked A, B, C and D. I connected the 19. If you get a signal you know the setup works without a diseqc switch. Since the Twinhan card had known issues with this I accepted the problem for a long time but as far as I understand the FloppyDTV is supposed to work fully with a switch. Hi HappySwede, the selection of diseqc switch positions took a bit of experimenting. 2°E to input C. Applying logic, I would have expected input A to be 'Level1AA' in the MP diseqc configuration and input D to be 'Level1BB'. However, as it turned out, input A is 'Level1AB', input B 'Level1BB' and input C 'Level1AA'.

If you are using a multiswitch you will need to connect at least 2 lines from the switch to the LNB based on which dish you have. Setup a satellite on the side of the house with helpful information from acertified satellite installer in this free video on satellite TV. It is advisable to check which satellites you are able to receive for your size / type of dish on the... The important information is the ‘Dish azimuth relative to magnetic north’ which tells you how far to rotate the dish left and right, and also the ‘Dish elevation’ which is what lengths up in the air to point the dish. Assemble and fasten cables – Once you have your satellite dish firmly in place, it’s time to connect the various cables in the dish to the TV. Plug all cables securely towards the dish. The dish consists of various parts, such as metallic dish, feed horn or feed antenna arm of the dish and many other parts. Connect your receiver to the LNB: Remove your meter and connect your receiver line directly to the LNB. Dish it up: Now do as instructed to assemble your satellite dish. We’ve chosen an 80cm dish and an universal LNB, that will enable us to create the system as much as receive other satellites too. For many good diagramatic instructions on dish setup and installation, you can visit the Winegard site to obtain a general idea of how the installation works.

Eutelsat developed the initial DiSEqC protocol to allow receivers to control a monoblock LNB switching it between Eutelsat and Astra satellites. Once you set the satellite dish towards the measurements outlined in the user manual after which check the satellite signal finder until the signal is located. The DiSEqC protocol is basically a standardised group of control codes that are sent from a receiver up the LNB cable with a “intelligent” circuitry in the LNB to tell the LNB to complete something. It is not a good idea to install the dish to your residence if you can help it to. A good alternative would be to attach the dish to a post which has been sunken in the ground. The thought of installing a fixed satellite dish not to mention a motorised dish, may seem a bit daunting but applying this guide many of the problems should disappear. Place your order and schedule your installation in one fell swoop, with assistance from a satellite TV representative who’ll help coordinate convenient installation times with your schedule. Connect the coax cable towards the satellite signal finder as well as consider using the tv for signal confirmation. For its TV channel, the BBC rented a frequency on Eutelsat’s Hotbird, the most popular satellite in Iran for TV watchers. A RG-6 cable is required, as are coaxial cable connectors, grounding equipment and weather sealant. Connect the cable towards the port in your TV that reads ‘in from satellite’.
