Awesome remote!
This thing is very cool. You can do a bunch of different timer functions, and some combinations of them. You can set shutter length, interval between shots, time to first shot, and number of shots to take, plus you can just treat the thing as a remote release cable. The display light is just fine for shooting at night, and there are not a lot of buttons, so you can learn to run the remote in the dark pretty fast. My only gripe is the cable is not very long - 21 inches or something like that. Canon wants almost 1/2 the price of the TC80N3 for the extension cable. Most won't need anything longer, but it would be nice if it was.

This remote is a handy tool to have. It's very basic use is as a shutter release. It's best to use a shutter release for when your camera in on a tripod in low light situations. Using the shutter release in this way helps to limit camera shake which improves your images.Other programmable features include a self timer, interval timer, long exposure, and exposure count. You are permitted to use any combination all or none of these settings making the possibilities virtually limitless.I have used to self timer so that I could both take the picture, and be in it. The self timer can be set for just shy of 100 hours if you wanted to.For time lapse, a combination of the interval timer which can be set for just shy of 100 hours and the exposure count which can be set for up to 99 shots should be set. This is an awesome buy for any 7D owner.
Ok, I bought this because I needed to do timelapses and the canon version was priced ridiculously so I had no choice. It looked a bit sketch online, but when I got it I noticed it looks EXACTLY the same as the canon version and operates exactly the same. It's easy to use and doesn't suck up too much power, except when you turn on the backlight, which is understandable. I've used it a ton. I've probably taken at least 100,00 photos on this thing and it's still truckin' like a mofo. Props to the people making these as an alternative to the overpriced canon remote.

Decent (not perfect) Alternative from the higher priced models.
Everything works great, easily up and running taking photos right out of the box. I like that the battery doesn't need to be in to trigger the camera. I really wish that the device had a turn off switch though. Hate taking the battery out when it is not being used.

Timer remote, battery dead already
Good timer remote, but the battery is dead already. It said it would last 2-3 years, but instead went dead after 3 weeks. There is no way to shut it off unless you take out the battery and flip it over.You cannot beat the price!!!

Simple to use and allows camera self power down to function
I'm a professional adventure photographer (Photo Adventures with Ed). I wanted to be able to do time lapse images for some video work that I do with my DSLRs while in the field. I received the unit in a timely fashion and quickly setup a test to verify that the unit will allow the camera to self power down during long time lapse photography sessions. You want the camera to power down and reactivate (via the timer) in order to make sure that your camera battery does not die during long time lapse photography usage. I have found some of the cheaper timers do not allow the camera to power down, or they do not wake the camera camera back up. A must have for time-lapse and long-exposure
I bought this timer for the Canon EOS 5D Mk2. It plugs right in to the port on the side of the camera, and works like an electronic bulb. After plugging it in and turning it on, it's ready to go.The large button just below the display duplicates the camera's 2-position shutter button in all camera modes (Full auto, M, Av, Tv, B, etc.), and works even if the timer's power is off.Near the bottom is a 4-position wheel with center button, for programming/set-up. Simply move the cursor with the wheel left/right buttons to select the function, and center/up/down wheel buttons to adjust the settings. Works Great!
It does feel a little flimsy and the on/off button on the receiver can easily be turned on in your gear bag, but overall an amazing piece of simple equipment for remote shooting in your bag. Inexpensive and perfect for 95% of remote shooting jobs. If you want something more reliable, spend a few $100 more. If you want something for most use cases, get this!Distance I have never exceeded 100ft, but does well behind people/walls around 50ft.

Not for Canon EOS 60D!
I just received the RW-221 for my new Canon 60D and found out it doesn't fit. I did check the specifications prior to purchasing it and it was clearly stated as being compatible with my camera. I included a photo of the connecting cable. I did some research and found out that there are two versions of the RW-221. There's a RW122 N3 which is what I received and there's a RW-221 E3 which includes the correct connecting cable, which if purchased separately is the CL-E3. The CL-E3 connecting cable has what I believe to be 3.5mm TRS connectors on both ends; whereas, the CL-N3 only has it on one end. I did call Amazon back for a refund and to advise them to change their product desription page to address the issue to prevent others from going through the same hassle as I did. I gave it a three because the build quality looked excellent and was packaged pretty well for shipment. I docked it 2 stars because it was misleading as being compatible with the Canon 60D, when it really was'nt.

Wireless Remote Works
The only problem I experienced with this shutter release is the lousy instruction sheet (and I do mean sheet not to be confused with manual) that come with it. The only problem I have consistently had with inexpensive after market products are instructions that start in an asian language and are then poorly translated into English. This is a prime example of this problem.This being said and after fooling and fidgiting around with it the shutter release worked fine. I am looking forward to using in the near future, but it did perform as described. I have not traveled with it much yet and do not have any idea about durability, but both the transmitter and receiver appear to quite sound and should travel in good fashion.

For the price, it can't be beat. It's a very good quality intervalometer with the same functionality as the but at a price much more reasonable for what this product does (It is a timer. Good value, but not everything worked right
I got this to do star trail photography. This timer does everything I need it to do and I'm glad I got it. Without it, my camera can only do a single 30 second exposure. I'm giving it three stars because the "Hold" switch keeps sliding back and doesnt work. So,on the rare occasion I may need to shoot in Bulb mode I'm out of luck with this one. No big deal to me but one would think that it would get tested before leaving the factory as the "Hold" switch didnt work strait out of the box.

Nice Intervalometer
I purchased the Vello ShutterBoss Timed Remote to shoot long time lapse photos. I never shoot with the maximum 399 number of shots selected, I always select infinite number of shots since I always shoot much more than 600 photos per time lapse. It's very simple to use once you read through the manual and learn the basic controls. It's very light weight and seems sturdy enough, but you don't want to drop it. I like the backlight feature that lets you see the display in the dark. It's also nice that you can Lock all the buttons just in case you reach over in the dark and hit the Stop button accidentally. My only complaint would be that it doesn't have an off button, switch or mode so I remove the batteries when I'm not using it so as not to run down the batteries between shoots. However, if you're only going to use it as a manual release for your camera, that function will work w/o batteries.

WIRED remote
So it was my mistake, but I purchased this remote thinking it was wireless. Just in case anyone else is thinking the same as I was.It arrive with batteries. Cheap batteries, but batteries nontheless.Although I retuned the product without use, I can attest that it looks as pictured.It is a plastic shell with simple buttons.Slightly cheap feeling for the 49.95 price above (as of 9-16-2011) BUT, as long as it works, I would have been able to get over that.I had purchased it to go with my Canon Rebel T2 - BUT since it's wired, I returned it for the: PRO SERIES Equivalent CANON RS-60E3 Wireless Remote Switch for Canon EOS REBEL T3i / T2i / XS and More!I'll write a review on that when I get it.
