GREAT VALUE AND QUALITY...
I bought the bumper and tire carrier at the same time. I have oversized tires and wanted a matching spare. The instructions were a little dated as far as having the exact hardware described versus what was actually provided in the kit. That being said the install was fairly straight-forward and easy. I did it all myself.... It is considerably heavier than the stock bumper and about twice as thick. I actually used 2 straps hung from the roll bars int he back to position the bumper and hold it until I could get the bolts installed. I have an LJ or Unlimited Jeep so no gas tank removal was needed.All that aside, I think this is an exceptional bumper/carrier set. It comes with frame strengthening brackets and is one of very few that are tow rated (Class 3). It looks great and is extremely solid. It doesn't rattle or move during driving. Great Buy! I keep hearing everyone complain about this bumper and swing a way being built in China, but for the best bang for the buck you can't go wrong. I would buy it again in a heart beat and recomend it to all friends. Top to learn more

Great!
In my opinion you cant beat the quality of this bumper for the price. Very heavy duty and looks great as well. Customer service is top notch and with free shipping its a great value from Amazon. The only thing they dont tell you is that you do have to drill 4 holes due to the fact it has a class 3 hitch built in. I dont think you could pull the bumper off without ripping the Jeep in half. I have alot of Smitybilt as well as Bestop item on my 02. Very pleased.

Excellent Tow Rated Bumper!
Although when I bought this bumper it was not mentioned here, if you go to Smittybilt's website, you will see the receiver hitch is actually a class III which means it is tow rated for probably more than you would ever want to tow with your jeep! That is good news for those of us who use our jeeps to pull small boats, utility trailers etc... This bumper looks great, has very decent welds, nice finish, and is very heavy duty. It is a real pain in the but to get a couple of the bolts in. Although I did find it a lot easier once I got the right tool combo set up; ratchet with a looong extension and a wobble on the end. Go in from the wheel wells AFTER removing the plastic liners. Installed this thing looks great and really cleans up the rear end of the jeep. It should have come with something to fill the slots for the tire carrier (it came with a plate for the hinge side, but nothing for the latch side) since I am running it without the carrier I used the included plate on the hinge...

I bought this bumper after buying a Bestop Highock rear from JCW and receiving it damaged. I hoped for the best with this one. It came packaged very well and didn't have a scratch on it. It is pretty heavy, and very sturdy. I love the finish. It's kind of like a bedliner finish but not as rough.As for the installation... PITA! It took me about 5 hrs start to finish. I could probably do it again in about 2 or less, but uncertainties throughout dragged it out. You have to drill 4 holes to mount bolts, and while it came with a good template, it was hard to get to line up so I drilled them over a size larger. WIth all the other attaching points, I really don't see these 4 holes to be drilled necessary, but I plan on towing some items so I went ahead and did it. Unless you have tiny hands or are very ingenuitive, plan on dropping the gas tank. I preplanned the install and was on "E" so it made it super easy to drop it.
