Great bike rack!
I previously owned a Saris Thelma II rack and thought it was great. It had a couple problems like the 2.35 tires on my mountain bike didn't fit well and the tire holder warped on one side but it was still much better than a trunk rack.My Saris was damaged in an accident and I did some homework before I chose a rack replacement. I wanted something I could leave the bike on while if I stopped to eat dinner after a ride without worrying about someone stealing it. The Thule 990XT fit the bill better than anything else I could find. Also, all of the Thule racks that I'd seen were very high quality so I trusted the name.This rack secures the bike by the frame and not the wheel. The racks that secure the bike by the wheel are not as secure because, even if the wheel is locked down, you just remove the front wheel and its easy to take the bike. Thule 990XT BIke Rack
I purchased this item for my wife and have been very pleased with it. It is lightweight so she is able to install it and take it off herself without my help. She is also able to install her bike and secure it without aid. This bike rack has to be the best on the market for any SUV.

The 990XT Doubletrack Platform Hitch Bike Rack is a lightweight platform hitch rack that is ideal for small to mid-sized vehicles that have a trailer hitch receiver. The Doubletrack utilizes adjustable mast hooks to support and secure up to two bicycles at the rear of your vehicle, is compatible with both 1¼-inch and 2-inch hitch receivers and features technology to fold and store the platform when not in use. Additional features include: quick loading and unloading while transporting bikes safely and securely and included locks for both wheel trays as well as the hitch connection.

The Hitch Bike Carrier Solution for Smaller vehicles
Although trailer hitch receivers are generally the found on larger vehicles with greater towing power, increasingly they are also found on smaller vehicles. For frequent cyclists who ride in pairs and that already have a receiver on their vehicle or are considering having one installed, Thule's 990XT Doubletrack Platform Bike Hitch Rack is an excellent option. First, the Doubletrack is lightweight and low to the ground. This makes it easy for your car to carry and easy to load. It also fits both 1¼-inch receivers and 2-inch size models (with the included adapter). It accommodates up to two bikes making it a convenient accessory for riding with friends or family. And when not in use, it folds up and out of the way.

Easy, Secure Installation and Use
Along with the convenience of being lightweight, The Doubletrack is also easy and quick to install using a few simple tools provided, and is ultra secure. To install, first, slide the the 1½ inch hitch with attached backbone assembly into the receiver previously installed on your car and secure with the hitch pin. Use the 2 inch hitch adapter if need be. Next attach the upright tube and "frame hold" hook assembly to it with the bolts and Thule hitch tool provided. Mount the two combined bike tube and wheel holder assemblies. The Doubletrack is ready for your bikes.
When you are ready to mount your bikes press the release-button near the base of the upright tube and hook assembly and lower the hooks as far as possible. Place smaller of any two bikes to load on the inner carrier with wheels in wheel holders and handlebars to left side of vehicle. With cam lever in open position, position wheel trays on tube. Move cam lever to closed position to tighten wheel tray in position. The Doubletrack comes with adapters for use in securing road bikes. If need be use them now. Now lift the upright tube release latch and raise the upright tube and hook assembly until it clicks into position, then push the interior bike hook down with firm pressure until it is secure on the bike's top tube. Load second bike with handle bars to the opposite side of of the first, securing bike hook and wheel straps in the same way as the first. Now you can lock the bikes to the tube and hook assembly using the lock cylinders provided and installed earlier. The entire Doubletrack carrier can also be locked to the receiver provided where it overlaps with the hitch with the included Snug-Tite lock. Finally, when not in use the Doubletrack can be folded up towards your vehicle with the push of the Hitch Switch lever and a light push, allowing you to park anywhere you normally would.

This warranty terminates if a purchaser transfers the product to any other person. Good product but has flaws
Before this rack I owned the type where the top tube of the bike sat on the rack, and it was not able to fold in anyway when in use so it made my car huge. This rack is much better since it folds up and only adds at most a foot to the back of the car when not in use. During the spring and summer months I also leave it on my car 24/7.Pro's- Folds up and only adds about a foot of extra space to your car- sturdy bike mounting method, bikes do not move around once attached to the rack.- Bikes lock into rack, and the rack locks into your car making your bikes safe if you have to run into a store.- works in a 1.25 or 2 in hitchCon's- Not as weather resistant as I would like. I leave this on my car 24/7 during the spring and summer months. That is the whole reason why I bought this type of rack.
