Great Unit, Great Price
I would've purchased this from Amazon, but it was not available for delivery to my address, so I purchased it locally. This replaced my Vizio 42" plasma that I bought refurbished about 3 years ago, and is being used with a Yamaha home theatre receiver (the digital cable box, DVD, etc. are connected through it).The picture quality in comparing the two is a world of difference. The plasma unit was good, but this LED unit is outstanding (aside from the bigger picture) - just a bright and vibrant as the plasma, but without the drawback of needing to have lower light levels in the room. The 240 Hz is definitely worth making sure you get, as there is no point in wasting money on 120 Hz or less. After looking around for the past month or so, it was a bit of a no-brainer to get this feature (requirement) on whatever new TV that I was going to get.This is also my third Vizio unit, and I have to say that they have not disappointed me at all. Just stunning
Before purchasing this TV I purchased 2 Samsungs and 1 LG. Both of those were on sale at best buy for 999. The first two samsungs were the 120hz non LED and were nice TVs however both came out of the box with a dead pixel so they were returned. I previoulsy had a Samsung 32in and it had been great, so needless to say I lost a little faith in Samsung and I've been a long time Samsung fan. The LG I bought also had a dead pixel out of the box! (and overall I wasnt that impressed with the picture quality aside from that.)I decided to get my money back and take a break, then I saw this TV on amazon. Aside from the horrible delivery service, this TV is great. The picture quality is stunning. The low profile and thin bezel really make this set even more attractive. The universal remote is nice for connectivity. The lack of internet did not affect me because I have an xbox 360 and I am soon buying a PS3. I picked this up for 1299 on amazon but even at 1450 its a great...

Exceeds all expectations
I was a lttle apprehensive about buying this TV since I'm not terribly familiar with the Vizio brand. I looked at this model everywhere and it is amazingly thin, has a ton of options for input, and is rated for energy efficiency.I'm not a TV fanatic so I'm not even going to try to go into the specs, but all I can tell you is that when this thing came out of the box, it asked me if I was a home user (as opposed ot a business, I assume to set the appropriate brightness) and hit the ground running. I am amazed with the picture quality, and I don't even have cable!!! I use this with an antenna, and often a blue ray play to stream netflix. I am so blown away by this TV every day, I cannot even think of a single complaint to list here.My husband and I had a great debate about size (he wanted a 42", I wanted a 55") This was our compromise, and honestly I haven't had a single regret!

Best deal out there for true LED
Was worth the wait! Nice deep blacks and bright whites for a super clear picture. Rich colors, but most impressed by the life like motion. 240hz makes a difference. I really wanted true LED back lit because the edge lit versions from the other brands at the same price appeared a little washed out. To get the same quality on a more well known brand like sony or samsung you'll need to spend about $600 more. Internet apps are cool, but not sure how much I'll usethem since my panasonic blu-ray has this too and seems to handle video more smoothly from the web.I pre-ordered for $1399. All in all a great deal for high end non-3D LED tv.

Great TV with some drawbacks
If you're sitting within a -30 degree to +30 degree angle perpendicular to the TV, it is amazing. The picture is clear, the contrast is great, and this is where LED performs best. Even though the tech specs say this TV has a viewing angle of -178 to +178 degrees, it doesn't say that the image would be consistent throughout. Straight on, it looks perfect; but from an angle, the blacks become brighter and turn grayish. At a wide angle, the color remains the same, but blacks do not. Also, straight on you have a matte screen; at an angle, it turns into a glossy screen. I find this very strange, and have not experienced this anywhere else. I've also noticed if you have white text on black background, viewing from a wide angle will create a "halo" effect around the text; of course, moving to the center will eliminate this halo. I don't know if this is a side effect of LED backlit screens, but I just find these to be slightly annoying. It really doesn't deter me much, and not...

Absolutely Love this TV
I've had my Vizio SV472XVT TV for around 2 months so far (I bought it directly from Vizio in a special deal they had pre-release). I can't say enough good things about it.First, the LED backlit screen produces an excellent picture. I would go so far as to say it's on PAR with any Samsung or Sony that I've seen. Blu-ray movies and PS3 games look perfect.The collection of "widgets" is amazing. Netflix Streaming, Amazon-on-Demand, Vudu, Pandora, Rhapsody, Twitter, Facebook, eBay, Flickr, various Yahoo widgets, the list goes on. Some games like Sudoku and Texas Hold'em, which are neat, but would be better if you could watch TV while playing them. They have even added widgets since I bought the TV. That was actually an unusual experience seeing my TV doing an automatic firmwear update. My TV is connected to the internet through my wireless G router and a cable internet connection and streaming video quality is excellent. I've taken to watching a lot of Netflix HD...

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Macbook Pro Users Watch Out!
I had compared lots of similar HDTVs with different brands such as Samsung, Sony, LG, etc... Then, I found out Vizio provided the best price and more functions than other brand name TVs; therefore, I decided to go for Vizio SV472XVT. Personally, this is my first HDTV, and I loved it very much. Everything is great about this TV, but there are few things I would like to point out.1. I tried to use this TV as a big screen for my Macbook Pro. I followed the instruction on TV menu and connected this TV with a mini-display/HDMI cable on HDMI 3 port and Y-split audio cable for sound, and it didn't work. In the beginning, I thought I might have problems with my new cables and my Macbook Pro; so, I called Apple to have my computer and cable checked out at Apple store. Then, everything worked fine there. After that, I called Vizio about this problem, and they couldn't figure out what's wrong with it (I spent more than hours on total 3 calls with them. Dawn of a new era of HDTV's from Vizio? Let's hope so!
I received this item around the last week of March 2010 and decided to postpone submitting my comments about this HDTV until my excitement wore off. The verdict........ Very GOOD!Let's start w/ the packaging. Vizo, I think has the coolest packaging I've seen to date. The box the TV came in is so colorful plus it advertises all the cool neat features you will find on the HDTV that's inside. There is also these (4) neat little plastic clips on the base of the box that you simply squeeze and pull out. This allows the end user to lift the outer carton up and off the base of the carton to reveal the foam protected TV that's covered in clear plastic. Now that's what I call making an impressive introduction!To be honest the TV styling is very bland and the silver piece is kinda cheesy. I would have loved to have seen this TV with the Vizio "Java" styled bezel but in a solid black color instead of the brown (Now that would have been SWEEEEET).The setup...

Vizio's best non-LED tv.
I bought this tv about a week ago and have been really pleased. I previously had a 37" sharp 720p 60hz, and did not like it at all. Well after much research I had narrowed it down the Samsung LN46B750. Only problem is that tv is $1500+ dollars. So I wanted another choice and researched and for the price and quality, this Vizio is a no brainer. This XVT is Vizio's best model other than their new 55" LED.Appearance: It looks really nice. Simple, clean, black and silver. Some people hate that the vizio light will stay orange when the tv turns off but its not really noticeable and doesn't bother me at all.Sound: Definitely better than my old Sharp, but still nothing to write home about. I have some really nice Logitech 2.1 speakers I use if i'm really wanting the theatre experience but the built in speakers are fine.Picture quality: This is where I was a HUGE stickler. I wanted at least 120hz, 1080p, and 4ms response time as I'm a gamer...

Excellent TV for an excellent price...
Okay, so I'm not going to write 20 paragraphs on why I like this TV vs. any other one I've tried. What I will say is that TV has a beautiful picture and looks fantastic with HD content. My PS3 games in 1080p make me drool just a little...I originally purchased this TV at Sam's Club based on the price (Amazon was higher at the time), but that was a complete nightmare that still does not have a satisfactory resolution yet - Long Story. I now own this TV via Amazon and I'm very happy with the purchase. I bought it for $1,021.00 with free shipping and not tax from Amazon and I suggest you wait to buy it if the price is higher than that and from a third party vendor. Amazon rocks! and their customer service is superior to many others I've dealt with.The remote is solid, picture is crisp, even during faster screen activity (240 Hz), and setting the functions (audio, video) is a piece of cake. Amazing Picture for the price
I bought this tv (VIZIO SV471XVT) today, I have been holding out from buying a new tv but the Christmas spirit made me do it.....I tell you going from a 32" low def tv to a 47" high def tv is truly amazing and took some adjusting on my part. Bought a Samsung BD-P1590 which has built in netflix streaming which was also nice. For the price I can't say anything bad about this tv or the picture (I have not found anything yet at least).
